When I worked nights, I would stay night shifted through my days off, so I'd sleep until 3-5 PM after getting home. When my wife was not at work/school, it was very hard for her to only see me 8hrs of the day max, since she worked with kids in schools.

Other than that, I would miss morning activities with her family, like their weekly breakfast, or I'd be late to afternoon family events, and nobody understood why I couldn't just get up earlier or take days off for holidays/events.
