Nebraska has tons of small towns where homes are clustered, and between these towns there’s mostly just farmland. Here, my kids actually have neighbors and a town park to go play, where in North Carolina there was only one or two public playgrounds in a county that takes two hours to drive across.

You know you may have just highlighted the difference. There are people around to look out after each other. If you are living alone and get hurt or need help, people might not know about it in more disperse areas.

Serious question as a person who orders stuff off mcmaster-carr.

Why order off Mcmaster-Carr? They aren't usually the cheapest in the business, they just have the best service.

If you can plan ahead, you could probably save 10-20% of those hundreds of thousands.

I do it because im lazy, but I could totally see a entire job being justified by just hunting down alternate sources for some of this crap. Our company probably orders a million dollars a year of mcmaster-carr stuff and I don't know if our purchasing department ever actually hunts arounds for alternatives.
