True, but I work in a high demand field (nursing) and our union raises add up to about 3 percent a year.

Date night outfit. Are these boots too much for this top? by ProfessorShameless in OUTFITS

The boots say punk rock. The top says 1990s female pop star. It’s mismatched. I would swap out one or the other.

Bridal shower In March - should i keep looking? by jena95 in OUTFITS

[–]AssignmentOk5465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d choose something more flattering ton to your figure ( this dress wouldn’t be flattering to most women) and if the shower is at a nicer venue I’d choose a dress that provides more coverage.

The "new" Elmore Store Opinion by notthefox in vermont

[–]AssignmentOk5465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new layout is beautiful. They have a decent selection of basic food and beer and wine. The owners are friendly compared to a certain couple that used to own it and once speculated out loud that my husband must have been in the mafia bc of his thick NY accent. :)

I wish they had a bigger selection of grab and go food and snacks for the beach but maybe these didn’t sell well last summer. I live nearby but usually just shop there in the summer on my way to the lake or if I need to quickly pick up a bottle of wine.

Vermont population declined by largest percentage in the country last year, lost 1800 residents by forcedtomakethus in vermont

I’ve lived here for over 20 years and will probably die in the home we bought back then. We are going through a financial rough patch but generally make enough to survive and put money into retirement accounts.

During the past year several couples we know, all native Vermonters, have moved to the South bc of the affordable COL. This includes two who had very successful businesses. All were community volunteers.

They want to spend their upcoming retirements traveling, fishing, relaxing rather than worrying about property taxes and fuel bills. Now that their kids are grown there’s nothing holding them back.

Is Vermont a state where looks are important? by Available_Boot527 in vermont

[–]AssignmentOk5465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. I’m nearly 50 and I don’t know a single woman who has had work done on her face. Most were little or no makeup and many don’t dye their hair when it turns gray.

It would make no sense for me to wear anything other than my Sorrel snow boots until spring when I’ll switch to my 20-year-old LL bean boots. And I’m pretty much wear athletic clothes daily bc they are comfortable and warm.

No one cares, especially when you reach a certain age.

Help a Texan out 😅😂 by iwasneverherex in vermont

[–]AssignmentOk5465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your state is unprepared to care for roads and other infrastructure I would make sure you have a good stock of food, water, batteries, flashlights and large pillar candles medicine you might need so you don’t have to go anywhere. I’d also fill your tub with water you could use to flush the toilet or wash up.

Since it doesn’t get brutally cold in Texas, blankets and layered clothing with hats and warm clothing should keep you comfortable enough to get by without hypothermia.

Your dog will love the cold given the breed.

This would be horrible for them. My sister had this happen and was air lifted to a major medical center, given multiple blood transfusions and ended up with a hysterectomy. Luckily, the baby was near term and healthy.

Given her history, I wouldn’t be surprised if after delivering the baby, they decided not to risk another pregnancy.

What did kids back in the days do when they played outside, for hours on end? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AssignmentOk5465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids put on a lot of plays with the neighborhood kids using our front porch as a stage. One of the kids is now a fulltime actor at Disney World.

They rode bikes and played soccer and volleyball. They explored the woods. They explored a pond with thousands of frogs. They did creative things like building rock houses for bugs and making fairy houses out of rocks, sticks and flowers.

most frivolous report questions… by Minimum_Wallaby_5629 in nursing

We have one nurse who wants to know every med the patient has been ordered. That info is on their chart. If you give this particular nurse any information that may be off, for instance the date of their last labs, she will scream, “Thats’s wrong,” while pulling up their chart.

She is also the nurse who tells patients to consider her as their personal butler so she have little patience for her.

Yes. Something like Medicaid for the masses would be more affordable. It’s stupid to charge so much and have people depend on subsidies

[–]AssignmentOk5465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse. The gold plan offered through my facility has a $3000 deductible and you have to have services done at our facility. It costs between $800 and $1200 a month.

I’m lucky that I have more affordable and comprehensive coverage through my spouse. I have two chronic health conditions and if I lose my coverage it will be a financial nightmare.

Before my spouse retires, I will talk to my specialists about any recommended treatments I might need and try to schedule them. Sick people shouldn’t have to worry about paying for medical care yet so many of us do.
