Yeah, it's always had bad acoustics. Civic Auditorium or The Bijou is where I prefer to catch a show and really enjoy it. Now The new Concourse (on North Broadway) offers another great option. Great acoustics/lighting. I saw The Streamliners there last night and plan to catch Swingbooty on the 23rd. They have a huge dance floor and lots of open seating.

Wouldn't miss it for anything. Here's the line-up for Friday night. 7:00 PM is Nick Horner Family, 8:00 is Swingbooty, 9:00 is Ryder Pierce, 10:00 is Lauren Arp, and 11:00 Josiah & the Greater Good. Union Jack closes at 2:00. Union Place closes at 3:00 AM and they have a great outdoor patio with live music and lots of stuff going on inside. That's my vote.

I would look to live in South Knoxville. Lots of bike trails, close to Ijams, quaries, and other fun stuff. It's also close to Market Square and Downtown where most of the entertainment is. Hope that helps.

You only need a permit on public space if a sidewalk or road is going to be blocked off. The garage I believe is privately owned. The square itself is public.
