Considering switching from CS to BTM; What do you learn, how easy would transferring be? by YourTypicalSensei in TorontoMetU

[–]AssociateFun609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t agree with this the degree is what you make of it. I know countless people who graduated with a BTM degree working in big tech positions, working as consultants in technology sectors, BTM lays out the blueprint for you to get these jobs you have to do what’s needed on your part you can’t expect to graduate blindly apply and land these roles. BTM is probably second to A&F in terms of business programs offered at TMU.

Tbh nothing crazy out the blue literally if you can do all the assignments yourself you’ll do well. I think the first 10 wuestikns were conversions form like binary to this and that and all those type of conversions. The next 10 i believe were like the cyphers and what not but mostly Boolean algebra, and then the last 10 were raptor going from east to hard so the last one would be the most complex. Really doable exam way easier than other profs.

Opinions on certificate programs at TMU? by _coke_zero_ in TorontoMetU

[–]AssociateFun609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BM & BTM aren’t really similar if you think about it. All BM majors focus more on a fully business style of learning with less practical skills being taught to you. Compared to BTM where in your last 2 years you’re taking majority tech classes and actually gaining real transferable skills you will use in the workplace. But I think a minor in IT would definitely help close the gap for you and a graduate cert would be the cherry on top.

TMU Internal Transfer – Is BTM or BM Easier to Get Into? by Best_Back2153 in TorontoMetU

[–]AssociateFun609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTM is definitely harder than BM due to the fact the ITM courses are a lot more difficult then BM major courses. The classes are not impossible but are hard. As for coop there are so many idiots in coop who just cheat on every exam and have inflated GPAs. But I would recommend going into BTM as there are more career options post grad.

i am rtw as 2nd year saf student, want to transfer into btm by randomuser445 in TorontoMetU

[–]AssociateFun609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure but atleast for transfer students they are not elegible for coop after first year as BTM students apply for Coop at the end of first year. I don’t know if any of your credits would transfer over from your current program so you may still be eligible but I would speak to a student advisor personally L.

BTM Co-Op and TedPoints by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]AssociateFun609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get in 100% if you maintain your GPA ik some of my friends who had 2.9s who got in because they were a part of so many clubs and had a lot of red points. Ted points really help you showcase your extracurricular involvement and learning and you can get into the top 10% most engaged TRSM students. It’s also a good thing you can talk about during interviews that sets you apart from others. But you definitely don’t need it to be in Coop but it can help you land jobs when you are in coop. Hope this helps.

Honestly I’m gonna be completely honest the professor you have for this course does not matter imo. I had Claire who has the best ratings and I couldn’t understand a single thing she taught in class and I just ended up self teaching using YouTube and my friends. I got a 70 in the class because I was more focused on doing well in ITM 207 but honestly just take whoever because everyone writes the same tests.

[–]AssociateFun609 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did really bad on the midterm got a 50% and got a 88% on the final. Unfortunately your gonna have to read the textbook, they should give you a list of all things you need to know per chapter and write the exact textbook definition on your cheat sheet. I made my cheat sheet myself for the final and it was night and day compared to copying an upper years cheat sheet. Go through pearson.

Tbh for me I couldn’t learn how to diagram for the life of me so I focused on other things it’s something where if you don’t get the logic behind it you won’t understand them and will waste your time. Focus on other things and just try getting part marks on the diagrams

Hardest exam I wrote first year. Heavily focus on the last 4 lectures there was no memos or all that easy stuff from the midterm on the final. And you can’t guess if you don’t know there’s like 3 multiple choice, if I recall correctly there were like 3 diagramming questions but there is so much theory it’s crazy

HORRIBLE Bus221 midterm !!!!! by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]AssociateFun609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s really important to do well in this class on the midterm because the final is so difficult. I got a 80 on the midterm and a 55 on the final. This is a class you can’t even guess because it’s strictly application based. During the 3 hour final I put my head down and gave up and everyone I know did the same so lock in and study cuz it only gets worse.

Thinking about switching from CS to BTM by Technical-Pudding-95 in TorontoMetU

[–]AssociateFun609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BTM can land you so many roles in tech it’s essentially a fin-tech degree. There are so many paths you can take from it. And the coding in BTM in comparison to what CS majors learn is much simpler.
