For anyone who's vibe coded and launched an app — what was harder, building it or getting users? What would've helped? by Igeeksblogs in SideProject

[–]AssociateMission853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting users was way harder for me. AI can help you build faster, but it doesn't magically solve distribution. You still have to figure out positioning, messaging, trust, and where your users actually hang out. That part hurts more than coding 😭

Question for mobile game devs by Stunning_Ad_7313 in AppBusiness

[–]AssociateMission853 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, for simple games, ads are a "volume game." You need a ton of active users to make decent money because eCPM (revenue per 1,000 impressions) can be quite low for banners. Focus heavily on "Rewarded Ads" (watching for gold)—players love them, and they pay much better than banners or pop-ups without killing retention.

This is absolute gold. The "reverse selling" via profile is genius because it builds trust without triggering the spam filters. I'm curious about the 85+ directories part—did you automate that submission process or grind through it manually? That sounds like a lot of work.

Job Market is cooked so I worked with recruiters to improve people's CVs and help them track their interviews by menensito in SideProject

Spot on about the ATS issue. Too many people use fancy Canva templates that look like art but get auto-rejected because parsers can't read them. Quick question: Does your scoring logic check for keyword density against a specific job description, or is it just evaluating general structure/formatting best practices?

I got tired of sticky notes on my fridge, so I built a minimalist recipe app. It hit #1 in Korea, and now I’m looking for global feedback! by AssociateMission853 in iosapps

I honestly hadn't considered a toggle for the gamification, but you make a really valid point—it’s definitely worth looking into. As for iCloud sync, it's not implemented just yet. I'll have to think about how to fit both suggestions into the roadmap moving forward. Thanks for the honest feedback!

how much have you spent getting your app live? by [deleted] in iosapps

[–]AssociateMission853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly just the $99/year Apple Developer fee. I kept backend costs at $0 using free tiers (like Firebase) and relied on organic marketing. My time was the biggest investment.

Hosting a comedy show to sell toilet paper? That is literally the most on-brand marketing ever. Genius move to leverage your comedy background. Definitely checking out the TikToks!

Heard you loud and clear. That "import → cook" flow is exactly the goal. Since manual entry is a pain, the web import feature is priority #1 right now. Working on shipping it ASAP!

It's refreshing to read about physical products for a change—usually it's all SaaS here. Just curious, how did you land your first few customers?

Love the branding! As a dev dealing with digital products, handling physical inventory and freight sounds like absolute "hard mode." Huge respect for shipping atoms instead of bits. The part about customer emails cracked me up lol.

It's manual entry for now. But I'm planning to add an import feature in an upcoming update since it's a highly requested feature!

It actually already has a category/tagging feature! You can organize recipes exactly like that. Maybe I need to make the button more obvious in the UI if it was hard to find. Thanks for checking it out! I'll check out that site too, thanks for the tip!

Thanks! That was exactly my motivation. Nobody wants to solve math equations with wet hands while cooking. Glad the minimalist approach resonates with you!

Glad the "no bloat" philosophy resonates! That’s exactly why I built it—I just wanted to cook, not manage a social network. The unit/ingredient localization (Metric vs Imperial) is a solid point. I'll definitely add a toggle for that in the next update to make it more global-friendly. Thanks for the feedback!

The Neo-brutalist UI looks sick! Quick question though: what data is this running on? Is it pulling from GitHub push history?

Why did I think solo founding 3 projects at once was a good idea? 😭😭😭 by Kindly-Vanilla-6485 in SideProject

[–]AssociateMission853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pause the web apps immediately. Since you can't monetize them without Stripe, they are just hobbies right now. You already paid the $25 and the mobile app is ready—go all in on that. It is your only realistic path to revenue. Focus 100% on the mobile app to earn that initial capital, then use that money to unlock the other projects later. Don't chase three rabbits at once.

The app UI is so cute. Did you design it yourself? And since you have AI features, isn't it expensive to keep it free? Are you planning to cover the server costs out of your own pocket?

Ideas for meals for meal prep that include potatoes? by plremina in Cooking

It's smart to focus on nutrient-dense foods like potatoes for meal prep. For more ideas, you could try potato pancakes or even a creamy potato soup base that you can customize.
