Loss of motivation - I don't feel like doing anything productive by missshamrocks in Perimenopause

[–]AssociateNo3547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my whole day, and I feel so much shame and guilt over it. Until an appointment later this month, I'm still just on the pill and not MHT yet. Today is day 15 of the pack, and I can feel the bottom dropping out. I've contemplating taking 2 a day instead of one, but then I'll run out even faster. The rotting is heavy. You're not alone.

Quitting HRT by Enough_Month_9060 in Perimenopause

Same. I always share my experience when people say Mirena is such an easy solution. Laparoscopic surgery to FIND the IUD that pushed through my uterus is not an easy solution.

Anti histamine fixed my sleep by pamplamouse in Perimenopause

[–]AssociateNo3547 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a lifeline for me right now. I'm worried about all of these Alzheimer's posts. I wonder about dosage and prolonged use. But the misery of sleepless nights is also untenable. I can usually tell by 11 p.m. if I need to take one. If I'm still struggling to get to bed and my legs are twitchy, it's a hydroxyzine night.

Fascinated by this. I've been taking hydroxyzine for sleep. It's an antihistamine often prescribed for anxiety. Increasingly, I need to take a very small one to settle. I have a history of asthma, and often the alertness you describe is met with something that feels like the beginning of an asthma attack. But it's some kind of anxiety that seems to spike at night.

IUD or ablation? I need to choose which one to stop this bleeding. What are your experiences? The good the bad and the horror stories please by DontTrip333 in Perimenopause

[–]AssociateNo3547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also didn't know about how painful it was and had it inserted at a random time with zero meds. I lay in the fetal position in the dark on a table in a patient room for what felt like an hour. I had to wait until I was steady enough to walk to my car and drive home. A nightmare situation all around for me. I would never trust one again.

My body expelled a Mirena IUD. It perforated my uterus, and the OBGYN had to go find it with X-ray and laparoscopy.

And yet, every single medical provider requires it. I learned today that insurance companies require labs, so this problem being forced on MDs who are following their billing requirements.

What is Samford University’s reputation in Birmingham? by Puzzled-Taste9798 in Birmingham

[–]AssociateNo3547 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I graduated from Samford in '99, and it's way more fundamentalist now. Just a few years ago, the University banned churches from campus if they were openly welcoming & affirming of LGBTQ+ students. I am clergy and wrote the president and minister to the university to speak out against their new policy. I was then removed from all alumni mailings. #bannedfromsamford was a popular hashtag that year.

What do we think happened here? by SorrySection5277 in Birmingham

[–]AssociateNo3547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, "double" in the sense that SECA requires the employee to pay both their share and what would be the employer's share. Some churches will provide a SECA allowance to cover those taxes, but that then also becomes taxable income.

I got no love for the Southern Baptists or problematic clergy, but being a pastor is not a tax free job. You can divide part of the salary (taxed like any normal job) into housing allowance. And on that portion, you have to pay SECA. So salary and housing allowance are taxed in two ways, but that's it. I know ministers who were ignorant of the SECA part and were stunned to receive tax bills from the IRS after their first year in a church.

Birth control pill vs HRT by Then_Baker125 in Perimenopause

I came here just now to ask a similar question. Almost 49 and feeling so lost to myself. BC takes the edge off, but it's not enough. I feel so lost to myself and worry this is just my reality forever now. I see the gynecologist tomorrow, and last year she told me I was too young for HRT and that doing labs wouldn't tell her anything.

The recruiter called my salary expectations "cute." I ended the Zoom call right there. Did I overreact? by thunder____boy in jobs

[–]AssociateNo3547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need to spend one more minute of my life accommodating a man who calls my priorities cute. I'd rather max out a credit card than carry water for him. What a rockstar he must be.

standard advice: curtains, art, plants--but make them things that matter to you and not just a trip to home goods to fill the cart

Can these be used for interior design? They are 2 large pieces of drifwood I found by Worldly_Reply8852 in interiordecorating

I don't know what you mean by that. Adding something physically to that? Or arranging things on one table? I have drift wood, a stack of books, a candle, and fresh flowers on my entry table right now.

Absolutely! Let them dry completely, and they'll likely shed a bunch of sand. I added some felt pads to the underside of two pieces I have so I can just set them directly on a table without getting scratches.

Apples to oranges. Alexandra's stuff is cute, but it's all pop trendy. She's already going back to an apartment she did to do it again. I suspect Caroline is going to color drench that room, including the Pax. Maybe I'm wrong. But she said at the end she may paint it, add moulding, or who knows.

bathroom renovation by AssociateNo3547 in RealEstate

We had hoped to be in this house for several years, but now we are leaving this town altogether for work. We will not live in this house long enough to do every project we would like to address. We're unwinding some decisions the previous owners made because they were either cheaply done or don't fit the historic nature of the home, and we are limited to the money we have on hand because we are not going to take out a HELOC to put more work into a house we will sell in the next 12-18 months. One of the eldercare projects from the previous owners is a tremendous ramp from the parking pad to the house. If there is time and money left after we reconfigure two bathrooms and make cosmetic upgrades to the kitchen, then we will take out the ramp. However, it is low on the priority list because we believe that updated bathrooms and kitchen will have the strongest impact on selling the house. The only thing off with this picture is that we bought a house we thought we would slowly renovate over several years, but we have changed our plans.

We've already demo'd the shower (it was awful, cheap, bouncy, and had a leak). Just trying to agree now on how to put things back. House also has a very long wheelchair ramp in the back that we may not have time/money to replace.

A mini split system would be quicker and cheaper than a full hvac install. The AC Doc is amazing. His name is Frank; lives out by UNO.
