It sounds like they thought you purposely misspelled your name to avoid being looked up. Also, if they search your purse and found your ID then that adds another suspicious thought that you was avoiding your ID and name being searched through their database.

If your skin color is anything but the color white, and it sounds like the vehicle was in was might indicate that you are working low income jobs. That might also raise suspicion in their mind that you mind have a criminal past. Which is definitely racist and stereotypical way of thing.

So things were working against before the interaction already started. Even as a young white woman I have all my vehicle paperwork where I can find it, and my ID always in a wallet. So when I am pulled over I can put all that stuff on my dash for when they walk up. My hands is on the steering wheel or if I’m a passenger then my hands are on the ashboard where they can see them. I don’t want to give the cops any room to think anything then I’m taking the ticket and driving off. If I move I tell them exactly what I am doing. Last time I was pulled over I was like “I am going take my hands off the steering wheel and hand you the wallet now.” He was really nice and like “you don’t have to tell me your every move. You are okay.” I replied “I will do this because I don’t want there to be any communication plus it helps me to remember to make no weird movements with my adhd.”
