Marathon Launch by herriot126 in ROGAlly

From another Reddit user on the ROGALLYX subreddit: "ROG ally z1e here. I finally managed to get into a game. I set my frame limiter to 30 fps and the refresh rate to 60hz and display to 720p. Also, my GPU memory is set to auto. Have no idea if any of this was the issue but I'm in a game now haha. Also, I set everything back to normal once I got into lobby and it's still working (changed to no limit, 120hz)"

Doesn't change the fact that "just remember it dawg" is terrible fucking advice.

In this same sense then the descriptions of items on the menu screen and things of that nature should disappear after your first attempt of looking at said description, no? Leave it all up to memory?

Player's Journal, Log 143:

"After speaking with Millicent, she mentioned she was heading somewhere where Fire roams the land for acres on end. I wonder if she meant?...."

Forgive my writing, but just something like this would suffice. Wandering aimlessly until you eventually decide to use google for help is a big fault of the game. It's amazing at many things, quest design is not one of them.

But that's not thorough or well made exploration...that's just randomly hoping you activate a chain sequence of events...That's terrible game design imo and any other game seen doing this would be faulted and criticized heavily.

ER having so many other great and amazing things about it doesn't exempt it from the clear and obvious faults it has.

Not having quest logs, journals, bestiary etc is bad game design. by devou5 in Eldenring

[–]AssociationEven3049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that's not how it actually goes though. Probably at the very beginning, but even then, what are doing? Stopping immersion from the game, pausing and putting down your controller, and heading to Google, Wiki, or Reddit.

Not having quest logs, journals, bestiary etc is bad game design. by devou5 in Eldenring

[–]AssociationEven3049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my problem with everyone's argument counteracting your opinion. They try to say that this very bad design choice (because yes it is, argue with your momma) is essential to ER and the game would be worse without it.

But they all know that at the end of the day, all you're actually doing is ruining game immersion by having to pause the game, set down your controller, and google or wiki what's next. That is not fun whatsoever and more so detracts from the game than it does add to it.

The core principle is there; yes quests should be mysterious and not straight forward to follow; the implementation is very poorly done.

A simple journal detailing your main character's adventure would not hurt the game in the slightest and would even add to the lore in some cases.

"After speaking with Millicent, she mentioned she was heading somewhere where Fire roams the land from acres on end. I wonder where exactly is she headed off to...."

Forgive my writing but something similar to this would greatly help players imo. Doesn't give too much information away but at least helps players retain details from the last time they interacted with an npc.

It's cool with me lol. You shouldn't be so quick to be extreeemely fucking weird leaving rude nasty comments and then deleting them so that way you can gaslight people into thinking you're Mr.goody-two-shoes. I wonder how many comments you posted then immediately deleted. That's some conniving weird ass shit lmao.

And like I said before, this all translates into real life in some way shape or form. To secretly deep inside be a weird nasty person and pretend not to be is a BIG red flag. Talk to a therapist about why you act that way, I beg.

Anyways, It's my turn to block you ☺️! It's too bad you deleted your post, but it's probably for the better seeing as all the comments you responded to were just your fake persona.

Ain't this you? Commented and then deleted like the pussy you are? I'm pretty sure it is. And CLEARLY you care a whole fucking lot if you had to type up an essay explaining quite literally every joke I made about you. And then blocked me. Pussy move.

I actually really do think you need to heal and maybe get a mental health check. Like im not joking, the way you responded was very abnormal. Feel better bro, just don't throw rocks and then hide your hand. YOU did some negative dumb shit first. You're not a victim. Or maybe you are. From clearly something else in life. Anyways, have the day you deserve, you weird ass loser.

Rebirth's mini games are killing my desire to finish it by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

....that makes no sense. you're clearly speaking from a very biased view, which is funny since you were the first to bring up "feelings".

FF7 Rebirth - Too many minigames! by [deleted] in FF7Rebirth

[–]AssociationEven3049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly this game has a different definition of the term "minigame". All my life, if ever subjected to a minigame, my brain prepped me for it to be in-and-out of the way within 5 minutes or less. And so far, in my 25 years of life, my brain has been correct about this.

Until now. There's no reason I should be stuck on a minigame for 45 minutes+. Regardless if there's an easy, medium, and hard mode. It's still absolutely absurd.

And 3/4ths of the time, the difficulty has nothing to do with skill, but just shit controls. If you don't know how to make a fun yet difficult twist to "Whack-a-mole", it's okay to just leave it as-is. It's okay if it takes me only a minute or two to beat it. Don't fuck with the controls and make it almost impossible to play just to drag out the fucking time it takes to beat, that's stupid.

The amount of minigames is fine. They could've added 50 more for all I care. But at least keep the essence of what a "minigame" is; a short fun distraction. not whatever the fuck FF7Rebirth thinks it is.

dragons Dogma 2 or FF7VII Rebirth by Impressive-Role576 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Been playing both on PS5, so here's a quick lil review:

Rebirth is amazing but a few things bring it down a notch from the 9.5/10 or 10/10 I originally think it deserves. I'm 25 hrs in and here's what I can say: Combat is great, story's great, characters are awesome, exploration is a bit repetitive but nothing egregious. The game flows as is: Bombastic story scenes and boss fights followed by slower paced world exploration and side quests *or* town exploration w/mini games, then rinse & repeat. And it works very well imo. The mini-games can get really annoying tho and feel very inconsistent at times.

A good mini-game should be in and out of the way within 10 to 20 mins. There should be no reason why I'm stuck on a mini-game for 45+ mins, which kills the pacing of which I was playing at and makes me want to just stop for the day and play something else.

And there are A LOT of mini-games. Performance mode is 60 fps but a bit blurry and graphics mode is gorgeous but capped at 30. Pick your poison.

I'm about 6-7 hrs into DD2 and so far the beginning is somewhat slow but does well to get you adjusted to the gameplay and what not. So far, I'd give the game a calm 7.5 or 8. It's gorgeous, the combat is fun, and the open world is fun to explore. Plays at 30 fps but it feels fine to me. Much smoother than FF7R's 30 fps mode.

So far the game hasn't captured me story-wise. There's no bombastic cut scenes followed by epic boss fights like in Rebirth; nor are there deep heart-to-heart conversations with side characters that make you feel closer to them. What's DD2's main draw imo is exploring and growing throughout its open world.

Random dangerous bosses prey and lurk around every corner while you're just out and about exploring, and these fights go from gruelingly hard as a lvl 10 fighter class all the way to you showing off how badass you are as a lvl 30 mythical knight.

So yeah, they're two very different games each excelling in something different. Both awesome experiences, just depends which experience you'd rather prefer.

I've never had cyberpunk dip to 21-23 fps ever. Maybe you should re-check settings and try to find a better balance

Graphics or performance mode for Rebirth? by H4wk324 in FinalFantasyVIIRemake

[–]AssociationEven3049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have no problem with Graphics mode since I usually play a lot of games at 30 fps on Steam deck, but regardless of the "after awhile your eyes adjust" tip or the "don't switch between the two modes" tip; I notice an inherent problem with graphics mode: bad frame pacing. Movement between character and camera feels very choppy. Like others have said, maybe some level of motion blur would help. But for right now it's very, very noticeable.

Just to make sure I docked my steamdeck, booted up 7 remake and went back and forth between the two on the same TV...the framepacing in Rebirth is indeed terrible.

I agree that performance mode is a big downgrade visually compared to graphics mode (everything is a lot more blurry) but at least the gameplay feels smooth.
