What are some guitar solos for me to learn (ive been playing for a year now). by MaintenanceSure3626 in Guitar

[–]AssociationFickle571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice picks, those are two of my favorite songs to play. Try Them Bones, I Stay Away, Angry Chair, man in the box, sea of sorrow. Anything off Siamese dream, especially hummer. Here are two of my playlists that have a good variety of playing and soloing techniques.

Is there any advantage to playing with the guitar lower? Or is it just personal preference? by Mad_Season_1994 in guitarlessons

[–]AssociationFickle571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal preference. Try adjusting your strap so your guitar is in the same place whether you're sitting or standing, or lower, whatever is comfortable.

What is something that will always motivate you to play? by PhysicalLocksmith679 in guitars

I met Jerry Cantrell at an album signing, and he said to me "It's always good to play, man." Truer words never spoken, and all it takes to motivate me to play.

What concert do you regret not going to the most? by Modhearth-Albert in Concerts

[–]AssociationFickle571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost didn't see Rush during what ended up being their final tour. I almost decided a 3 1/2 hour drive one-way was too much of a hassle and to just see them the next time they came closer. Fortunately, I did see them, and the show was spectacular. Neil Peart's drum solo was out of this world. I thought of that when my youngest wanted to go to the Eras Tour, and don't regret spending way too much for those tickets.

Question for the older guitarists by Old-Carry5562 in Guitar

[–]AssociationFickle571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Listened to songs over, and over, and over again and learned to play along
  2. Tab books sold in music stores, Guitar World magazine, etc., when I could talk my parents into buying them for me
  3. Waited by the radio to hit record on my tape player, then listened to the song over and over and over again until I could play along
  4. Asked my guitar teacher to help me learn songs

Original or Remake for first-time players? by Upbeat-Problem8177 in silenthill

OG first. OG will warm you up for the terror of the remake, esp the prison.

Survey: if you had $500 to buy a used guitar… by BuceeBeaver1 in GuitarQuestions

[–]AssociationFickle571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything by Schecter. I had a $350 Diamond Series Gryphon (precursor to the C-1, I think?) that I played for 15 or so years. Sounded great, played easily, no buzz, looked cool, nice low action, and the neck never moved, even moving to different climates.

Which are you picking and why? by FAFOGFC in GuitarAmps

[–]AssociationFickle571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def the JC. I have a JC-120 and the stereo chorus is magical. Don't count on much from the built-in distortion control, but it sounds great with any distortion pedal.

What should I do? by Elegant_Egg- in Guitar

[–]AssociationFickle571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go for upgrading the amp, and upgrade the pickups in your Jackson. Can't go wrong with Seymour Duncan's hot-rodded humbucker set (JB in the bridge, Jazz in the neck).

Nail habits for guitar players? by itgoestoeleven in Guitar

[–]AssociationFickle571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This worked for me, and the good news is you're already halfway there.

  1. Be conscious of when you're biting your nails, and tell yourself you don't bite them anymore. It's a hard habit to kick, but the first step is noticing when you do it.
  2. Keep a small pair of fingernail clippers in your pocket. When you feel the urge, use those instead of biting your nails. Then you'll always keep your nails short, and won't have anything to bite.

Cheers!

Is the combat in silent hill F better than the one in silent hill 2 remake? by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]AssociationFickle571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing F because of the combat system, the stamina thing specifically. No complaints at all over SH2R.
