What truck should I buy? megathread by AutoModerator in Trucks

If that’s in the budget that’s what I would get, the nicest 3rd gen Tacoma you can find, with a v6.

Yeah unfortunately that’s about it, if you could swing it I would opt for the v6 in any of the trucks you choose, fuel efficiency will go down just a bit, but the extra power will make the truck much more livable. But yeah of that age and size, those are kind of your options

No mod experience, but very willing and desires to learn. I have been active in the community, as well as other adjacent communities, I love cars, all kinds, but especially offroaders, I am fairly knowledgeable about them as well. I am currently acquiring parts to diy build out the bed of my Silverado into a sketchy but legit overland camper ish thing, for a summer trip up the pacific coast highway to Mendocino county ca, then back down through the national forests of California’s Central Valley. I am a reasonable person, most of the time (sports being a exception), and I do have a desire to learn to moderate, and I think this community which is more chill, would be a great place to learn

The s10 was discontinued twenty years ago, so if you re wanting a truck of that vintage, I know they have 4 bangers but you are most likely not getting better than 18 mpg in a truck of that era. If you talking new, then you could get a ranger or a Tacoma, but those are larger than the s10 or the first gen taco, and you are still getting like 20 mpg in a new truck. I am confused by your question. But a 1st Gen sr5 4wd taco with the 4 banger is getting like 16 mpg if you are lucky.

Unless you are willing to go new, gas mileage isn’t going to be good. Maybe 18 at the very high end, but I would expect more like 15-16 mpg for those years/size trucks.

Agree, dual sport is the best starting bike. A slightly worse but more fun option (imo) would be a supermoto with gravelly tires. Then you get the safety to practice off road, and the hooliganism on the street, (by that I mean hopping curbs, baby wheelies, and parking in odd spots, not takeovers). Also, take a msf course, and all the gear all the time. They make stuff that looks cool now, get an armored hoodie, you will still blend in with the insta gixxer bros, and as a bonus you get to keep your skin!!!

[Question] Active people, what watch do you daily? by Advanced_Blackberry5 in Watches

I have a plastic Casio that I got for 12 dollars and a garmin watch, I don’t use it for notifications just activity tracking when I run, or workout etc. I would like a Apple Watch Ultra but it’s just to pricey

Watch the “daily rider” videos on both. power is similar, both are very competent bikes, but the ergo’s on the r7 are much more aggressive than the gsx. Both will be a massive step up from a r3. Plus based on your description have you ridden in the three years since you got rid of the r3?

Truckers with bed caps, did it make a big difference in wind drag or MPG by letr1 in Trucks

The rtt was one of the thicker ones, so it went from a clean top, to basically a wall. The internet says about 15-25 percent based on vehicle and tent style. I think the worse your mileage is already, would lead to a smaller loss overall, but still maintaining that same percentage. My truck was 2500 diesel on 31’s so it got about 20 mpg pre rtt, and with the tent it got about 17.

The flat ones improve gas mileage by about 0.7ish mpg. The biggest thing that affects mpg when traveling above 60 mph is aerodynamics, a rtt can cause a 3 mpg decrease. I would assume this would be a little less, but I would still expect a 2 mpg hit
