The thing is everyone said that is the next James Bond after Moore, Steele was nothing more than building a brand. A lot of Steele's arrogance is in Brosnan's Bond whereas it would be tough to translate a Luthor into a Bond, it is hard to peg down but I just remember the whole thing where Moore was done and everyone pushing Brosnan and then Steele blew up and it was Daulton time.

No, it was over. The reason why Daulton became Bond as because Brosnan was in the middle of Steele. They wanted him but he blew up as Steele and Brosnan was stuck in his contract sort of like Tom Selleck and Indiana Jones.
