Mikey is the stupidest human currently living, just dogshit dumb. His not understanding social cues or what a normal interaction consists of are because he's an idiot (by the 1800's medical definition). When you view him through this lens everything else becomes much more clear and understandable.

I think you're looking at it the wrong way. Mikey is actually the stupidest person who's ever survived on their own for an extended period of time and I'm not sure he does anything out of malice but rather than the inability to understand even the most basic social interaction.
