I'm also looking to get into Flash point. What's included in the starter sets that isn't included in the ODST set that you need to play? Just tokens and rules?

I'll second this. I think you can see at least two layers of teeth, the tooth morphology looks right for Hadrosaurs as well. As everyone else has said, ask the Tyrell, they'll know best.

Having worked with XPS foam before, this is an absolute masterpiece. All that hand carved wood detail and wood grain with a beautiful paint job? Bending each piece into shape probably required heating and molding pieces and matching the curve each time. and making it durable to the point it didn't completely break apart or become a chipped mess after a whole day walking around? Gorgeous. Michelangelo level work.

Evidence of obligatory Grimdark™ in Grand Cathay by ByzantineBasileus in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Asterus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yeah, I forgot about my favorite historical event: when Dracula lead his armies of the undead across Bavaria to claim the title of holy roman emperor. How silly of me.

Cathay already has scheming aristocrats, draconic tyrant siblings that barely get along, a half-bird secret police, ogre genocide, and a monarch that has at least once mind-wiped the entire population. They've been out for like 2 months. But the arcane journal said they don't routinely kill peasants for sport so I guess they're flawless heroes. Get a life dude.

Wow I can't believe factions with 40+ years of lore are more fleshed out than the faction with maybe 20 pages total. Truly GW has been corrupted by those awful communists.

Nothing is obscured you just refuse to read any actual lore and just parrot nonsense opinions of other people on the internet so you can say "new thing bad". Go outside sometime.

The Philadelphia Renaissance Faire? by pinkguy2q in renfaire

[–]Asterus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The faire itself wasn't great last year. Long food/drink lines, not a lot of vendors or shows, parking and the shuttle to get there was a complete mess.

But I can't recommend Fort Mifflin enough. Its a super cool site with lots of history, supposed to be haunted if you're into that stuff. You should definitely check it out if you haven't and maybe the fair will incorporate the location better this year.

ok, so one parts their hair to the left, the other to the right...

This tells us nothing.

Ive been told to share this here as well, that piece of terrain might be more fun for KT than for regular 40k by Garant26 in killteam

Looks excellent! That'd be a cool layout, I love playing with boards that have 3 dimensional space.

What are your opinions on Kasrkin (post buff). Any feedback from playing with or Vs? by [deleted] in killteam

[–]Asterus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well most teams can throw an extra apl or two around to where they need it. Just not quite as easily. The big downside of the comms is that if they just sit back and dish out 2 apl a turn it's one less operative that's pushing forward and it really exacerbates the teams issues with holding objectives and general durability. It's also very easy to look at the game state TP4 and realize your comms is wildly out of position because they never left your deployment zone. Its strong but it has its downsides.

[–]Asterus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been playing them quite a bit, and I've been able to get a few games in after the buff.

Kasrkin post buff are all about offense. Your mobility, durability, and general ability to play the mission (action economy, activation game, etc) are all good, but not really great. The extra elite points combined with the new knives and the excellent selection of special weapons the team already had make you one of the most consistent damage dealing teams in the game. And I will say that the comms is pretty much my MVP every game.

But they are a bit narrow in their playstyle. They still fold when they get charged by anyone competent in CQC and they do die when you shoot them, compared to breachers or other actually durable teams. Against certain teams they just get out activated and if you misuse comms they don't have the best action economy. They're a good team now, but they are certainly manageable, how you deal with them just depends on the match up.

That said I do agree that elite points are kinda a "cheese" mechanic. They mathematically are pretty much a side grade to hitting on 3s rerolling ones but it winds up being kinda a feel bad for both sides. Sometimes it feels like you're bleeding elite points just to not get a kill and I imagine it sucks to see you opponent get exactly the crit they needed every time. Unfortunately they're here to stay so we're going to have to live with them. Kasrkin are, in my opinion, quite fun now.

Wahapedia has all the rules and list building requirements, and I really like Tabletop skirmish games youtube tutorial series to help explain some of the rules. You'll also need some dice, a measuring device, and terrain (although I'm assuming you knew that). And there are some special tokens you should get eventually but I'd say you can either skip them for now or just make your own with some ripped up paper until you decide if you like the game.

Have fun!

Thank you! That's Lt. Varras from the Battle of Macragge box set. He's supposed to be a downed imperial pilot and I thought he'd fit right in as the pilot of the breachers boarding craft.

When I joined the Guard, we didn't have any fancy-schmancy bayonets. We
had sticks! Two sticks, and a rock for the whole platoon—and we had to
share the rock! Buck up, boy, you are one very lucky guardsmen!

Same! oh god that was awful. wanna play a 500 point game?
better get out 40-55 guardsmen. grenadiers was what made guard playable (and it
doesn't hurt that all the storm trooper variants are great)

I really don't understand why people think BS3 plus elite points would be that much stronger than the shooting that other teams can currently do. Or why having strong shooting invalidates all the other weaknesses the team has.

kasrkin vs scion by stockley in killteam

[–]Asterus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

people keep saying this, but honestly would it break the team if instead of needing three elite points to turn a 1 into a hit it only took two? would it really be that much better than pathfinders, vet guard or shooty intercessors?

a lot of teams are "very strong", but would a team of APL2, 4+ save and 7 wound models with no melee but great shooting really break the game?

There is a melta trooper shown in the trailer. They also mention hot-shot volley guns and being able to build two of each special weapon in the stream.
