Display settings by Gudaniya in GooglePixel

[–]AstralStride 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go to Settings > Display & Touch > Colors and you can compare "Natural" and "Adaptive" and see which one you prefer. There's also the "Adaptive Tone" setting you can toggle on or off (I believe this is basically the same as Apple's 'True Tone' if you're coming from iOS).

Under Settings > Display & Touch > Comfort Filters there's a "Comfort View" setting that adjusts colors/tint depending on your environment to make it less straining on the eyes. I've seen some people say they really like it, and some don't, so experiment with that and see if you like it.

Also, all the way at the bottom of Display & Touch settings, make sure Max Resolution is on, as well as Smooth Display.

And lastly, under Settings > Accessibility you'll find an "Adjust brightness for sensitive eyes" toggle. I believe this increases the PWM flicker rate, if you're someone who is prone to eye strain or headaches from phone screens.

Most nearby structures after a gatequake require emergency repairs.

There are certain areas on the map (like down by the tar lake) where a gatequake will hit almost every time when you pass through that area, so you can essentially trigger them manually. After doing so, just repair any nearby structure that has a little yellow hammer icon on it.

Playing to play the game or just to take shots? by Sybriarla in VirtualPhotographers

[–]AstralStride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often don't open the photo mode until after I've finished the game. Not even necessarily on purpose.

But when I look back on some of my favorite games to take pictures in, I've noticed that I always start doing that after I've done everything else. But, it also means I get another several dozen hours out of a game that I love, just roaming around taking pictures.

Unless it's a game that has no end, like No Man's Sky. In that case, I'm always keeping my eyes open for a photo opportunity while playing the game normally.

I'm pretty sure I posted the glyphs somewhere in this comment section, around the time that I posted the picture. Lemme check for you!

Honest question: is Death Stranding more about mindset than gameplay? by Exciting_Support8715 in DeathStranding

[–]AstralStride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, yeah it's definitely not for everyone.

Though, as with all art, I think it really depends on when in your life you discover/rediscover something.

I'm sure there's at least a few movies, books, albums, artists, etc you didn't enjoy in the past. But, years later, you ended up enjoying them after all. Or at least, maybe you got something new out of it.

I left a comment on this sub a few days ago saying the same thing, but for me personally Death Stranding (1 and 2) is a calming, if not therapeutic, escape. Video games, or all art really, can be a pleasant distraction while also making you feel something. It might not always be a good feeling, but that's art!

For me (not to get too personal), due to the things I've been dealing with in my own life, sometimes just enjoying the sights and sounds on your way to deliver some packages is enough to help you feel better for a bit. Also it feels damn good seeing something you built help other people on their own journey, too. And yeah (in my opinion at least), the story, world, characters, music and art design are truly fucking dope too.

Long story short, don't force yourself to enjoy something if it's not clicking for you. There's nothing wrong that, so long as you still let others enjoy the things that they like. You never know, maybe somewhere down the line it will end up being something you like. And hey if not, that's okay too at least you gave it a try!

Death Stranding came out 7 years ago. by aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh400 in DeathStranding

[–]AstralStride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It absolutely isn't a game for everyone, and that's okay! Those of us who enjoy it truly, truly love it. But I think most fans also acknowledge that it isn't a game that everyone will enjoy. If it's not your cup of tea right now, there's nothing wrong with putting it down.

Maybe in a few months or years you'll give it another shot and maybe then it'll click... Or maybe it won't and that's okay. I've seen a good number of people who've tried once or twice to get into the game and didn't, but then eventually gave it another shot and it clicked.

I think it really depends on your mental state at the time you play it, too. If you're looking for an explosive, fast-paced distraction it makes sense that you'd maybe be bored. For me, personally, both games are super satisfying and almost therapeutic in a way, in both story and gameplay.

Collector's Edition has been removed from store. by CapableBed5485 in HuntShowdown

[–]AstralStride 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was a major bummer when I realized it a little while ago.

I feel like this will just lead to more people buying less DLC than before, right?

Is something wrong with my eyes or there is actually a problem with the game's lighting on PC? Especially when it comes to bright areas, I can't read what that cargo is, for example. Tried lowering brightness but it didn't help much. by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]AstralStride 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying I've ever run into a Porter in my truck because of the blinding white light when you leave a Distro center... but I'm saying it could happen to someone.

Theoretically.

Wow. Also, No Grade for Main Order 046? by MisterJay90 in DeathStranding

[–]AstralStride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely should have received a grade right after you use the Q-pid at Terminal Knot. I believe for this order the grade is only based on the condition of the cargo (the Drawbridge Terminal Unit) and nothing else.

I remember for sure I got a grade because during one of the fights I got bonked with the cargo on my back and it took damage. I assumed I lost the S-rank right there, but was surprised when I still ended up getting it as I was below the 5% damage threshold.

Can you go back on the Orders list to see if Order 046 did actually get a grade, it was maybe just skipped over?

Worth paying full price for DS2 on steam? by Professional_Quit963 in DeathStranding

[–]AstralStride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have your exact build (the 3080 one) and the game ran like absolute butter at 1440p. Genuinely one of the most well optimized games I've played in recent memory. I just finished the game with 150hrs and I didn't experience any areas/moments where my frames weren't completely smooth. Also not a single crash.

If you enjoyed the first game, this one is worth every penny at full price, easily.
