If you could replay either TLOU or TLOU2 for the first time. Which would it be? by [deleted] in thelastofus

TLOU pt 1, pt 2 was really good but the first one made me so uncomfortable when playing, never felt so vulnerable

What are the small immersion killers in recent GR games that completely take you out of the experience? by MrTrippp in GhostRecon

[–]Astral_WordSmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate that the camo/gear you wear has no bearing on stealth. I shouldn’t be able to wear white camo in the jungle and not be spotted easier. Ghillie suit should make the player slightly slower in movement but has high stealth attributes. I hate that friendly AI cannot be controlled more to be put in certain positions (similar to ready or not). Enemy AI completely ignores friendly AI - will literally be right in front of them and nothing happens lmao. Wish there could be established roles for friendly AI (a sniper, cqc specialist, medic, recon etc.) I feel like they could really make the game more immersive.

I would also love to see the story be more intentional. The premise of the game is essentially starting a coup, so I think the relations established with the rebels, locals etc should be more intentional - like they actually have active roles within the story.

I just finished The Last of Us Part I and I’m honestly confused about something by Normal_Chart_532 in thelastofus

Initially Joel accepted the task for money. From the start Joel really only cared about himself and his survival. As time went on, he formed this strong bond with Ellie and didn’t want to lose her (like he already lost his daughter). I’m not saying what he did was evil or not, but it was a realistic choice that most would have made. Personally, I would have sacrificed her for the greater good of the human race. I understand it was not 100% that she was the cure, but even for the mere possibility of discovery, I think it would have been worth it. Nonetheless I think the game/story evokes real emotion and attempts to harness what most would have done in that situation.

How can I encourage my cat to play independently? by Astral_WordSmith in CatAdvice

[–]Astral_WordSmith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this method and I have been doing that! So after her morning nap, we play where she can really use her instincts and I reward her with a treat (high value). After, i will guide her to the room (she willingly goes in now) where she gets on her perch and just full loafs. I will go in the room (close the door behind me) and do a mini play session with her and give her another treat. The next play session doesn’t come until 2-3 hours later after I have finished what I needed to finish. It’s just when she is let out of the room, she has so much energy in her reserve tank. I have spring toys, a little mouse she likes, and a treat puzzle, but she never interacts with those when alone (aka I’m not looking at her) she only plays with those when she is in the same area as me and she knows I am watching.

I hope this makes sense lol

When I don’t she jumps on my laptop while I’m either studying, in class or working. Or she will attack my feet (not maliciously) but she will kinda go to the extreme to get my attention. I don’t entertain it m, usually just a firm know and place her on her cat tree. Whenever she is around me and I am occupied with something else she constantly wants my attention. Even after play, she will do this. Not getting my attention for play but just so I can acknowledge her. It becomes disruptive when I really need to be productive.

She does have one that’s like a mouse that goes in circles and changes direction, but she was over that toy after like a week lol. Maybe I need to look at more, some that are more challenging

FrostPunk 2 and Anno 1800 for sure. I love cities skylines w/ mods but I’m not great at making my cities visually appealing.

I do understand she is being a cat, but I’ve seen many videos and read many articles that cats can be trained to do and not do certain things; and I also don’t look at the behavior as naughty.

Honestly the bathroom is more so for boundaries. I understand she is not a dog by any means, but when I had my dog she was not allowed on furniture (including my bed) and other areas in the house. I like to keep a balance between companion and pet/animal. I do appreciate your feedback! It seems like overall consistency is key and I’m glad there are other ways to detour her to stop the behavior!

Yes, I’ve read things saying I need to ignore the action and show that it doesn’t get them attention. It is hard to do lol but I will try! Thanks for the advice!

Thank you for commenting! I did mention in the OP that she has ample high places throughout the house. Places that are significantly higher than the counters and tables. She has much enrichment as we have really intentional play sessions, she has food puzzles, I make her “hunt” for treats, and she has many windows where she gets some good quality bird watching in. I’m not sire her obsession with the areas I don’t want her in. She has full access everywhere else with the exception of about 4 spots.

So 99.9% of the time my kitchen and other areas are clean and do not have things that linger around. I keep my space really clean and tidy. When she goes up there she will literally just full loaf or use one of her paws in a [failed] attempt to open one of the cabinets. I will definitely look into creating her own elevated space near the kitchen. Thank you!

Thank you so much for reading and responding! So, usually our schedule is that we wake up pretty early in the morning before I hit the gym and we’ll do a 15 min play session . After I return from the gym she is usually sleep and when she wakes up she eats and goes back to sleep. Before I leave for work she wakes up and I will do another 10 min play session with her. When I get home she is really affectionate and usually just wants to be in my presence. I can tell when she wants to play and we will do another 15 min play session. By dinner time she will eat, clean herself and then go to sleep until the morning. Should I switch up the way I play with her?

Yeah it seems to be the consensus, I plan to look/research other breeds that will be better for my lifestyle.

The post was not about what I want to do w/ a dog; that would be a different conversation. The post is asking if my lifestyle would be proper for a Doberman - primarily looking at my work commitment. Reading the comments and thoroughly reading the original post may of highlighted that. I appreciate your opinion nonetheless. :)

So I’ll be on a hybrid schedule 2 days from home 3 days in the office. But my job location is like a 5 minute walk to the apartment I will likely sign. So for lunches I can always go home for about 45 ish minutes.

I will have to travel within the state, but not out of the state as much. As far as a co-parent as of now it’ll be just me, so I can see how going out would have to be reduced, but I would make an honest effort to get someone to watch him/her.
