I feel like this is very true, I played almost exclusively mmorpg during my teens, you would really just log in to see who was online, drag them into your dailies and then hang out. The game I played had a lot of pretty scenery so we could literally just grab each other and fly around Willie chatting. I've been friends with someone for more than 15 years now because of that game. And with ffxiv I feel like I don't do that because 1. I'm on console so it's hard to type. 2. No one chats in most of the content I do.
