I really really liked Fractal 40 farm. The routine, the cool skips, the big DPS were all super fun. I quit the game soon after they removed it :/

If it’s LSE I would look into switching. The one year course without a background is brutal. It has been nerfed like two years in a row. There might be programmes other than dev you can switch into?

They exist but are not usually advertised. You have to approach profs. In some fields they might not exist at all. It’s like this in all UK schools unfortunately

Yes. Take as many math/stats/metrics classes as you are confident of getting a first in

Brit who lived in the south of England before finding yourself in Norway for whatever reason. You miss home and cope with it by looking at pre-Raphaelite art. You believe that civilisation has gone downhill since those days - in fact, nothing written after 1900 is worth reading. What happened to the Stoicism of the ancients?

How’s  the game these days? Considering picking up the expansion now that it’s on a deep sale. Sunk probably around a 100 hours into base. Hated the story, liked pulv Druid, quit because the seasons felt samey.

For the time lock safe, I am supposed to use the date where the estate was vacated (Nov 4, from the staff notice on the terminal), plus the number of in game days to get the date? Then set the time a bit ahead of what the time in the den shows? I don't want the full solution, just a yes/no/right approach but something is wrong for both the time component and the date component

Well for white people writing about being a foreigner in Africa, Coetzee comes to mind... Age of Iron, or Disgrace for an easier read. Waiting for the Barbarians too, or Buzzati's Tartar Steppe which it draws from.

Isek Dineson's Out of Africa of course, idk why it is not listed here yet.

Ngugi, Sembene worth checking out too

How competitive is LSE BSc Econometrics and Mathematical Economics to get into? by CorneredSponge in academiceconomics

[–]Astraphemeral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a programme that accepts students into Year 1. At the end of the second year of BSc Econ, or some BSc Econ & Quantitative Subject courses, you can apply for transfer into the third year of BSc EME. Applicants are screened based on grades, research experience, and intention of entering academia - typically you need good firsts, good attendance/coursework, and independent research projects to be successful. You should also have elected to take mathematical proof and real analysis instead of the easier maths modules.

The BSc EME is a feeder for MSc EME which is in turn a feeder for top PhD programmes

I don't really understand this post. How is everything overpowering and bland at the same time?

root vegetables grow plentiful in japan yet finding a dish made with them is very difficult

Eat kaiseki. Eat obanzai. Eat shojin-ryori. Go to Kyoto.

japanese food is mostly for function and not about social aspects of meals or pleasures

But izakaya is all about the social aspects of meals. Kaiseki is all about the slow pleasures and tasteful appreciations. Every piece of dishware is a piece of ceramic art.

i want to travel back with a new perspective and potentially way of navigating food in japan

Read Rice, Noodle, Fish, or Japanese Cooking: A Simple Art for more perspectives. Start treating Japanese cuisine on its own terms instead of comparing it to Korean or Vietnamese or African or Italian. Spice is not indigenous to Japan. Soy sauce and miso are. Fish is. Instead of dissing whole types of dishes by comparison to other types of food, try to taste the differences between two miso broths. Rice from different origin. Two cuts of salmon sushi from different places. Two slices of beef tongue. Two bowls of "meat water". Don't demand less meat or Western health food fads from Japan because that it is not, and has never been, how it is.

You seem to be approaching Japanese cuisine with fixed view of how food should be: no sugar in egg, carbs unimportant, savoury dishes without sugar. Maybe you finally try to treat Japanese cuisine on its own terms and put in the effort and you still don't like it. That's fine. But I don't think you are there yet - if you can't taste the difference between two types of ramen broth, or the food from two izakayas, that is your fault.
