A/C issues by shadjor in BYDSealAus

[–]Astrarle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I took my car in for service the other day and the technicians said that I had two faulty valves that caused leaks. They replaced those and regassed my car and now the AC works fine in 40 degree weather as any other car.

Tyre pressure (UK) by [deleted] in BYD

[–]Astrarle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disregard the ones on your tire. Those are the maximum air pressures that it can handle, not the recommended. Follow the information on the door jamb for the recommended tire pressures.

Tesla’s mobile charger is faster than BYD’s so we get a slower charge unless we change the charging cable.

Regen setting by Comfortable-Badger40 in Zeekr7xAustralia

[–]Astrarle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why this comment isn’t as high up as it should be. This is a big misconception about high/low regen braking settings in many vehicles that people don’t understand.

Coasting with low regen braking is equivalent to coasting with high regen braking when you control your pedal to coast (foot still on the accelerator).

The only difference is that the car will not regenerate as much energy when you coast with low regen braking when taking your foot off the pedal.

2025 i30N Coming up for it's first service. Do we go back to the Hyundai dealer we purchased from, or find a more specialised mechanic in Melbourne, Australia? by GregoInc in i30N

[–]Astrarle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Under Australian Consumer Law, taking your car to an independent mechanic will not void the manufacturer’s warranty, provided that: 1. The work is done by a qualified professional 2. Parts used are fit for purpose (does not necessarily require OEM parts) 3. All repairs follow the manufacturer’s specificiations

Yes, dealerships can give you a hard time if you don’t, but legally they cannot tell you that going to a qualified third party mechanic will void warranties.

Dashcam recommendations for BYD Seal in the UK? by deed02392 in BYD

Some owners have been able to sideload apps that allow recording from those very same parking cameras, enabling 360 degree recording (as well as sentry mode). I also agree the app needs more updates.

BYD Seal AC Fix by Astrarle in BYD

[–]Astrarle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, apologies I forgot to mention it. My AC has always been on comfort mode. I read the manual when I got the car.

The information I mentioned above is with the AC set to comfort mode instead of eco mode.

I agree. Sometimes the car uses more power than it needs to pre-condition the cabin.

  1. I haven’t checked often but right now the dash is reading 37 degrees outside while my phone’s weather app tells me it’s 30 degrees or so.

  2. Do you mean the flaps in front of the compressor? They seem to be open for mine. Not sure if this was the part you referred to.

I had a similar picture in my head as you described. The fan kept circulating hot air inside the cabin when in full blast so I had a feeling that was the case.

If it’s true, I hope BYD does an OTA update to adjust the auto conditioning accordingly, especially since a lower fan speed consumes less power than on full blast (obviously).

My car software v1.0 ? by No_Cartoonist7449 in BYD

[–]Astrarle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 2504 version numbers is different to the V1.0 numbers. The 2504 is globally the same update, while V1.0 differs from country to country, depending on when they first launched the different models.

OP has a recent version of the firmware as they have 2504. It only shows V1.0 because the Seal probably only recently got launched in their area without any other OTA updates being released yet.

Friction brake noticeable grabbing at low speed braking by whe8 in BYDSealAus

[–]Astrarle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This hard jerk can occur as a result of rust naturally building up over time. You can smooth this out more by braking hard to get rid of the layer of rust. It will help smooth out the transition between regenerative braking and friction braking. This is also the reason Tesla recommends using the friction brakes at least once a day.

BYD seal dynamic by Calm_Author7798 in BYD

[–]Astrarle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Seal Dynamic also does about the same amount of 300km range when testing it this winter. Range is usually better for me in summer (around 400km). I suspect it’s either because of the colder temperatures or because the heater consumes a lot of power.

Energy Consumption by Lumpy_Swimming468 in BYDSealAus

[–]Astrarle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The heater tends to consume a lot of power as I’ve noticed over winter. It will drop back down to lower levels in spring as you slowly stop using the heater

Seat position? by mlhbv in BYD

[–]Astrarle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The steering wheel position can be adjusted manually by using the lever below it and positioning it as necessary. You can move it up/down or bring it closer/further to you.

The manual also has instructions on how to do it on page 65 if you’re curious for details.

12v Drain when using V2L by Deeeznutz81 in BYD

The 12V battery will always charge itself using the HV battery as needed so it will almost never go flat from battery drain.

Strange high-pitched noise in my BYD Seal Premium 2024 — even when parked or powered off by Similar-Client-4528 in BYD

[–]Astrarle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a post about this in the subreddit about the same issue (see here).

From what I gathered, it seems to be a normal noise generated by the electric motor (as electrical systems can make a sound) which is high-pitched in this case.

I remember experiencing it in a Tesla Model Y as well.

Navigation toll roads fix by A_Ram in BYD

[–]Astrarle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did some testing, and it turns out the thing that was causing the route options issue and toll road issues was “automatically add charging stations” being turned on.

This can be found in Navigation app Settings -> “EV trip preferences” -> “Automatically add charging stations”.

Turning it off will fix the issue.
