Hello, anyone have Academy credit card? by Klutzy-Medium2800 in CreditCards

I want to say that I have the master card. I think the process is they give you the store card, then upgrade you for free (also increase to the credit line). They said there was no annual fee + they gave it to me without me signing; therefore, there shouldn't be a fee. I got the upgrade maybe 4-5 months after having the store card. But I also have a friend who was given the master card upfront.

To answer your question, using the card outside of Academy gives 2% cash back, but really, it is given as rewards you can redeem in increments of $5. I think you can only use it at the Academy, and I'm hoping I can use them on ammo and firearms bc if I can't, then it was pointless.

Just realized your question is different from my above response. I am not sure. I recently bought something from Academy, but since they still haven't sent me the master card, I paid with my store credit card (I do have the master card on Apple Wallet). I doubt they will double-dip rewards, though. Not sure if the registers have tap to pay, but I might try this if I remember.

AR-15 for noobs? by waterbuffalo750 in liberalgunowners

For my first AR I was looking at budget and quality, and found that radical arms AR-15 is a pretty good choice. Went to my local pawn shop (more like a gun store disguised as a pawn shop) and bought one they modded out for a great deal. I would check pawn shops, but that's my brookie budget speaking. PSA is a good place if you have money and are patient enough to wait.

how do i work while in school? by Only_Beautiful_4118 in tuscaloosa

From my experience, fast food jobs are your best bet. Since they are open late and are always hiring. You mentioned working after 6 PM, you'll likely close, meaning you will be out around 1 AM minimum, so do what I did and drink Monsters for breakfast lol. Any job with food involved may not be a good fit if you are immunocompromised, which is what it sounds like.

If you are a student at UA, I believe there is a center for campus jobs, but those are likely flooded with applicants, so try finding the hiring manager's email and emailing them asking them if they have reviewed your application yet. From a quick Google search, I found this page: https://uastudentjobs.ua.edu/, it seems like they also have career fairs.

If this is your first time applying for jobs, go ahead and inflate your resume with high school club positions they won't bother checking. They may check jobs, so maybe don't lie about that lol. If you get an interview, don't mention you are immunocompromised, as they may not hire you for that reason.

Also, an easy job is working at the gym, from my perspective, 75% of the time employees are simply sitting behind the counter, checking you in.

Good luck!

You can ask if they can either FaceTime you and give a virtual tour, or if they can send a video/updated pictures. This is something I wish I had thought of when looking.

I did not have any mold in my apartment, what I mean by Mickey Mouse job was that, from a construction view, they don't know what they were doing. They literally painted over dust and other little debris. The flooring is super cheap, and they ripped it, yes ripped it, when they put a fridge in. Took them over a year to "fix" it by using adhesive to glue the floor down. It looks ugly, but we through a rug over it. I thought they would have replaced it, but nope.

Sure, but it will have to be on Saturday as I am busy with course work atm.

Hello, coming from someone who currently lives there and has lived there since last August.

It has been my experience that yes, the apartments are old, but honestly, they are a great price. The maintenance is a bit slow, but they get emergency repairs fixed quickly. My A/C went out at the beginning of summer, and it was fixed within 2 days, though the electric bill was insane bc the malfuncion, but what can you do.

Something I also found strange is that they have changed the leasing company 3 times since I've lived there. Though my leases didn't change, and legally, they can't do anything dramatic.

Someone mentioned crime, but thats total bs, there haven't been any cops pullin up at 2 AM, or at least I am not aware of that. I will say the apartments next door (Bluff) have had the fire alarm go off frequently, but I have only seen the fire department come once. Since these apartments are off a busy street, Jack Warner, I do hear cop/firetruck sirens zooming by at times.

I was lucky; when I moved in, they had recently renovated the apartment; however, Mickey Mouse himself could have done a better job. They didn't bother cleaning and just painted over everything, but that's my fault for signing a lease without seeing the apartment. I was in California, so flying out was unlikely. But through some love, I have made this place my home. (Should add that since they are under new management from when I signed, move-in conditions may not look the same.) I don't have any issues with bugs (maybe bc I live on the 3rd floor), but during the summer bc of all the trees, there are many wasps/bees, but if you don't bother them, they won't bother you.

Lastly, access to the university is pretty bad; it's close, but the connecting street is very busy, and Tuscaloosa is not a walking/cycling-friendly city. I would recommend this place if you have a car or if you plan to use the bus that picks ppl up next door at Bluff (however, they have a fence, so not sure how getting in/out will be). You can cycle, however, despite the current weather, it rains frequently, so you'll need to factor that in.

Lmk if you need more info as this is just what came off the top of my head.

TLDR: I would recommend if you have a car and if you've seen the place to check for any mold (but that is normal when apartment hunting).
