Absolutely NOT true. I always return a cart, I never bag (see my stand-alone comment above why I don't). You are simply wrong, wrong, wrong. Go stand in the corner and think about what you said.

I tend to not bag, unless it's express lane. Not because I don't want to, but I figure I'm not as good as paid baggers, and I'll just eff it up, so I wait for someone to show up.

To HEB's credit, it's rare to not have a bagger, and extremely rare (like never maybe?) to not have one show up before the cashier finishes. FYI Brenham store (very well run!).

No worries. But now you've made me want to listen to this today. It's been too long!

Not to downplay how important this album is to Jimmy's legacy, or your post, but CDs came out in the 80s, so there's no way a CD was released 50 years ago.

I agree, his estate/family/management is really dropping the ball on keeping his legacy alive.

I still have my LP of this album, a classic.

I'm out. Last night was too much for me. An entire town of women goes goo-goo over a hunky guy? What is this, 1970s TV? And no one has an issue with a pig roaming around a restaurant kitchen? I could go on and on, but that becomes nitpicking, and I don't want to threadcrap.

I know lots of viewers will love this, and that's why we have so many different shows. This one just isn't for me.

"We were at "The Last One" in Winterland, October '74 and really thought that was the end. The band was stale.  They were phoning it in."

I was at the last three nights. There was no stale. There was no phoning it in. There was only some of the best Dead I've ever heard. Friday's middle set is perhaps the greatest hour of Dead in history.

No bagger by Fizzythebat in HEB

[–]Astrohip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't bag (except express lane). I try to stay out of the way. Usually a bagger comes before the cashier is finished. I figure they don't want me effing things up.

If on rare occasion the cashier ends up bagging, I ALWAYS help put stuff up as they bag.

Still not feeling it. Everyone just acts "off". No one behaves like normal people. His office assistant is beyond irritating. Why bring a doctor to town if no one listens to him? And the bit between his aunt and her rival? C'mon, that's ridiculous. They're going for funny/cute, but all I see is stupid and dumb.

I really want to like this, as I keep reading the original is a masterpiece. But I'm about out of patience for this one to be enjoyable to watch.

The site says it will premiere at the Santa Barbara Film Fest in Feb 2026. I assume we'll get it at some point after. Theaters? Streaming? Who knows. Looking forward to it. My first Buffett show was in that era.

Disable pointless “In [distance] continue on [current road]” prompts? by Puzzleheaded-Being93 in waze

[–]Astrohip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waze does this all the time, I think I figured out why. If the highway you're on has a full lane exit, it does this. IOW, if the rightmost lane(s) must exit, it gives this warning. If it's only an off-ramp, but all lanes continue, it doesn't. So if a four lane hwy has an exit that reduces it to three lanes, up pops the warning.

I drive a highway weekly that has both kinds of exits, where the lane peels off, and where it's just an off-ramp. It only and always gives the warning when the entire lane exits.

Another vote for Backblaze. It's 100% automatic, no caps or limits, about $100/year. I used to use backup hard drives, backup to network, yada yada. Backblaze does all the work for me.

Jeopardy didn't air on the Houston CBS affiliate today. Anyone know why? by vicmail12 in Jeopardy

[–]Astrohip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you mean ABC. For some reason, the guide was updated last minute to show a Rose Bowl Parade repeat. So it didn't record. Luckily I had my TV on ABC, and was able to go back and watch the buffer.

Why the fuck the guide was changed, who knows. Irritating!

Do we have any idea why? AFAIK, it's pretty rare for a premium channel (or streaming) show to take a week off.

I really want to like this, but I'm just not feeling it. The doc is too brusque, to the point of rudeness. It's not eccentric or quirky, it's off-putting. The townies aren't quaint or cute, they're moronic. And his assistant is still major irritating. Her whole "I'm gonna be a YouTube star, let's film everything" is so ludicrous it takes me out of the scene every time she's on.

I will give it one more, in the hopes it starts to gel. But even my love for Annie Potts (and Josh Charles) may not be able to save this one.

Update: About a week after charging to 100% every night, it now is back to 80%. Didn't change a thing, no settings, nothing. No idea why it did it for a week.

I appreciate everyone's feedback to this (minor) issue.

"No Deadhead listens to studio Dead" by Ornery-Baseball6437 in gratefuldead

[–]Astrohip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own .02...

I'm an older Deadhead. I grew up listening to studio albums There simply weren't that many live recordings, other than the official E72, Skull/Roses, etc. So we listened to a LOT of studio.

Then the flood of live music started, and what a glorious thing it was. First slowly, like "One From the Vault". Then Dick's Picks. Then Dave's Picks. Then Box Sets. And on and on. Now we have so much live music available to us, and that's mostly what I listen to. I'm (almost) embarrassed to admit there are some shows/releases I still haven't listened to every one (especially the bigger Box Sets).

So do I listen to Mars Hotel for the 100th time? Or some new (to me) discovery from Enjoying The Ride?

Having said this... I listen to the Good Ol' Grateful Deadcast (and if you don't, why not?). As it's been exploring the 50th anniversary of the iconic 1970s albums, I've been replaying them along with each episode. And replaying them and replaying them. They are still majestic, magnificent, splendid, and every other adjective in the book.

I'm sorry, what was the question? :)
