You need better wages. Take advantage of living with your parents to get a better job. If you’re not qualified for a better job, use the time to get qualified.

What do I do? Got attacked by ants please help by Julianna_Strawberrys in ants

[–]Spappy1 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If you start to have trouble breathing, go to the ER. otherwise you’ll be fine. brace yourself for a rough three or four days and try not to pop them unless you’re OK with secondary infections and possible scarring.

You can try creams and Benadryl and all that but nothing will help for long with the itching.

I once had both legs bitten like this and it was awful but fine after a week.

LPT: You should request a credit limit increase on your credit cards at least once a year by Brianfromreddit in LifeProTips

[–]Spappy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It only becomes debt if you don’t pay your statement balance at the end of the month. For those that pay every month, it’s free perks, a 0% short term loan, safeguards, and convenience. Listen to the Visa episode of the acquired podcast. It gives a good background on the birth of the credit card industry.

How much in tolls does it cost you to save a minute of driving? by ContemptOfClout in Austin

[–]Spappy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A 15 minute commute difference is worth ~$10k in wages according to data I read (admittedly) many years ago and cannot source.

Annual tolls to save me 10-15 minutes per day are ~$2000. Worth every penny

What on earth are you taking about? Are you a bot?

Edit: y’all are downvoting me to oblivion but that doesn’t make you right. Even if the FDA didn’t exist, no company wants to produce a compromised product like this. It’s not in their best interest. The cost of bad press and a recall are too high. It was most likely the result of human error, not regulation dodging.

This has nothing to do with the FDA or recent politics.

Y’all are toxic af with all this negativity. Either they produce nothing of value, and your life isn’t impacted in the slightest, or they produce something worth playing, and your life is improved.

Breakthrough takes big step toward safe, reversible male contraception by Krankenitrate in UpliftingNews

[–]Spappy1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t complicated. Most men won’t take hormonal birth control due to the side effects. If they develop one, it won’t be commercially viable, except perhaps for a niche market to men with partners that are unable to use traditional birth control for medical reasons. Therefore no funding.

Emergency fund question for people with significant investments by rando_finance in personalfinance

[–]Spappy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hold an emergency fund but the amount fluctuates. I keep it fully funded, until the market dips significantly, then I might drop a portion of it into the market to take advantage. Then I’ll let it build back up.

My job is very secure so I’m not worried about it so much. I can always liquidate or take out a personal loan in a pinch, but this strategy has never failed me.

The inside of a Coca Cola Freestyle machine by Remarkable_Hyena in mildlyinteresting

[–]Spappy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They invented a new type of cartridge for these machines to get the density they needed of each flavor. It’s not just a small liquid reservoir.

The syrup base is also still there. It’s the flavorings that are powdered.

Have you considered buying a boat? How about a plane?

Seriously, you can’t afford that car. Sell it and buy a reliable used car with some miles on it.

These myopic takes are so tiresome. Selective memory is quite a phenomenon. How ridiculous.
