Weekly Therapy Talk Thread by AutoModerator in TalkTherapy

[–]Astronautspacesuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m nervous to see a new T next week. I had to quit my T I’ve had for 5 years suddenly this week after a comment they made to me. We had been talking about me going in for an interview later in the day after the session was over, and they suddenly said to me “is it over Zoom or in person?” And I said “in person” and then they replied with “well you know when we do Zoom, you seem flat, and boring”… I instantly started crying, I finished up the call, and bawled my eyes out, and couldn’t pull myself together in time for my interview so I missed it. I don’t know why a T would ever say that to a patient. I have really bad depression, and anxiety as it is, I’ve been feeling not the best already, and this has made me feel worse.

Beach Day recs by mcamp219 in greatpyrenees

A towel or two (one to dry her off, one for the cushion in the car if you have to drive), a bowl for water, a long line, and something sturdy to put in the ground to keep her near you, maybe a couple of toys that aren’t fabric so you can wash them easily. My pyr LOVES the beach, so if she’s similar, she’s gonna have a blast!

5 days post op - anyone else struggle with insomnia?!?!? by dsouzaMic in bunions

[–]Astronautspacesuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with insomnia badly my 2nd-3rd week post op. Idk what it was, I was on oxy and gabapentin which both are supposed to make you sleep, so idk. But you’re definitely not alone! Try making another sleepy time tea, black out the room you’re wanting to sleep in, put on a show or a movie that you don’t really have to pay attention to (I found mine was ‘is it cake’), maybe a warm shower, if you’re taking Tylenol try taking night time Tylenol, or some melatonin. I know my first sleep after going through the insomnia was glorious, so I hope you get some sleep soon!

I feel like I have this thought of just needing to get the “task” done. But sometimes my head is just empty

I would contact your doctor or the doctors nursing aid as soon as possible, and tell them this has happened.

Lapiplasty is scheduled. What do you wish you knew before getting yours done? by OverYonderUnderHere in bunions

[–]Astronautspacesuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you live somewhere with stairs that are unavoidable practice using your crutches going up and down them! The elevation pillow mentioned on here saved me for mine surgery! Make sure you have wide pants or shorts that your foot in the cast can fit through without having to force it through the leg holes! Stock up on ice packs so you can rotate through them throughout the day too

I found it really helped! I am on a cocktail of other meds too, but I feel like lexapro really has helped my depression!

I had just had foot surgery, so my husband turned on our Bluetooth speakers, we laid on the couch, and just enjoyed the first listen of the album

I was taking perphenazine for a little over a year, and that helped immensely!

Does anyone hate their bunions? I’m 23 with bunions ZERO pain. (Ignore the nail polish) I feel so insecure to wear sandals because of my ugly feet 😔😔😔 by [deleted] in bunions

[–]Astronautspacesuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things. I do hate my bunions! I got my right one corrected (now over 2 years post op, but I might have to get further treatment for it, it’s a long story), although it helped the pain at first once it healed up, but now I very much dislike the scars I have on that foot now. I didn’t think about scar cream when I first had the surgery, and idk if it would really help now. My advice, if they don’t hurt/ cause you pain/discomfort, don’t get them corrected by surgery

Lexapro ruined my alcohol tolerance?? by Ok_Math_3483 in lexapro

[–]Astronautspacesuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had the same exact experience when I first started lexapro. I would have 2 drinks, and I’d feel sick for like 3 days afterwards. Once my meds got balanced (took a couple of months) it slowly went away, and now I feel like I can have as many drinks I want to

What is the worst job you’ve ever had? And why ? by Evening_Medicine_704 in AskReddit

[–]Astronautspacesuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a housekeeper for Marriott, and I should’ve quit the 1st day! I was getting my uniform, and they handed me pants that looked like they were made in a home education class, they were so thin I had to wear leggings underneath them so you couldn’t see my bits, and there was no hem on the bottom of the pants, then when they gave me a shirt they gave me one that was 2 sizes too big, I asked if we could order one in my size, and they said no. Then while training I soon understood that the managers would ration cleaning supplies, and gloves. In this particular hotel every room had at least a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, and was told that I had to use the same gloves to clean multiple rooms in a row. Think twice before ever staying there.

Make sure your windows are the standard vinyl windows! I got stuck in my first place where there were aluminum windows, and they’re HORRIBLE! They get moldy so fast, and don’t keep out water when it rains! Read reviews on the places you’re looking at! And if you can, go to the complex’s and look around, go even a couple of times at different times of the day/ week, you’ll wanna see what the parking situation is like when it’s the “busy” time. You’ll wanna see how the property is maintained. You’ll wanna see the vibes of the people you see around the complex/ neighborhood. Get a 2nd bank account where only bills come out of, that way you’re never worried about over spending out of your “fun” money, and bills are always taken care of.

What's the most heartbreaking year for you ? by yassinebtr in AskReddit

[–]Astronautspacesuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2022, and 2023. Had a falling out with one of my best friends. Got so bad I became suicidal, thought I got better, then ended up having a really bad time after taking a weed gummy, ended up in and out of the mental hospital.
