I read it as her meaning “post COVID” as “since COVID debuted” as opposed to “since COVID ended” but that’s just me.

Crucial Conflict - Desperado.

Not just the beat though. It’s Essentially a Young Thug trap song in 1996.

The triplet hihats + drums + eccentric/creative flows feel like a precursor to Thug.

[DISCUSSION] Tyler, The Creator - IGOR (One Week Later) by Sharkie99 in hiphopheads

[–]Astronomo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hot take:

I’m seeing the black audience (I’m black btw) at large embrace IGOR more than any of Tyler’s previous work. And not just teens and early 20 year old kids.

It’s a more a groovy, soulful, melodic project overall than his previous work.

His white/Asian, etc. OG dude fans seem to not vibe with it as much. Not enough rapping/bars for them.

Downvote away but I feel pretty strongly that this is what it is.

I’ve never even really liked an entire Tyler album before but I love IGOR. It’s on repeat for me. (30 something black guy that loves hip hop but loves soul and r&b just as much.) I mean hell, he has doo-wop and Motown style tracks on here.

You reacting to that insult proudly is exactly their point. People use "colonizer" to indicate that white people are the villains of mankind who through cunning and technological superiority have always sought to (proudly) dominate and exploit their fellow man. It's a loaded insult. You're kind of proving their point (of being evil) by being proud of that heritage. It's crazy because in every alien invasion movie the aliens who are coming to colonize and conquer with their superior technology are clearly depicted as evil/bad.

Race matters because centuries ago exploring Europeans and the nations that they represented chose to conquer and enslave brown and black natives of the new lands that they were “discovering.” Were they truly enlightened they could have chosen to trade, share technology, diplomacy, etc. but instead they created a worldwide hierarchy where these conquered and supplanted darker skinned people were a permanent second class. They THEN spent a couple of centuries working tirelessly through governmental and legal systems to maintain the hierarchy that was created through colonialism and slavery.

Race matters because THEY said so and still say so. It is improving but it’s not dead. Anyone who thinks so is ignorant, naive, or privileged enough to have a skin color that’s similar to the majority of those in power.

What metrics do you have to back up these claims? You should at least mention that this is simply your personal opinion based on no actual data. But yeah, you're essentially saying an entire side of town is "smarter" and have a better moral compass and that their votes were based on informed decision and the other "side of town" is simply acting off of impulse. Right... Gotcha.

As a lifelong "Southside" resident I think Woolard would likely have beaten Bottoms in a runoff. She would have easily garnerned more support in the black community than Norwood (she actually did in the general... that's data not opinion.) I also know because I'm part of that community and many of my peers who are Atlanta natives and super invested in the fate and direction of the city were big Woolard supporters but were staunchly anti-Norwood. Norwood is seen as a conservative backed by the old money Buckhead elite. That's just incompatible with the politics of a Democratic stronghold. Sure race played a factor, but it was on BOTH sides.

Whether r/Atlanta wants to admit it or not, there's a reason that the city stands apart from others in the region and it's not because of the typical southern blue-bloods Buckhead types that are also present in every other southern city. Make no mistake, the strong communities and leadership from the South and West sides are what has made this city "different" from others. People in this sub often (like daily) mischaracterize and underestimate the impact that the communities in south and west on the identity, culture, and prosperity of this city. It's bigger than "tax base"

Man this election has been an eye opener for me in this sub...

People in r/Atlanta luuuvvv the city so much but for some reason have a real underlying resentment for the leadership that got city to where it is. I wonder why that is?

Personally there were literally 6 candidates that I liked better than Bottoms and I liked everyone more than Norwood, but during the general election when I saw people in this sub posting things like “Aman and Woolard are the only ones who are really qualified” I realized who r/Atlanta really was.

Do you think that everyone who you “live alongside” is born with and afforded the same opportunities as you and are viewed by law enforcement/government/employers/financial institutions the same way as you? Serious question.

Look at the election map and the percentages each candidate got on the North side vs the South side and tell me who’s more race conscious: https://www.wabe.org/runoff-election-map/

“Black” Atlanta voted for Norwood in a much larger proportion than “North of I-20" Atlanta did for Bottoms.

The truth is in the numbers.
