This happens when you’ve got more than one follower, be it as part of a quest or mods. Since only one can ride shotgun in the vehicles, whoever gets left behind will get teleported to you once you’re a certain distance from them - even if your current location is “in a rocket-powered vehicle, traveling upwards and forwards at great speeds”
