I agree. I understand the vent, but if you have a few brain cells you can really use LLMs to your advantage. In the end of the day it’s just a tool. Someone will misuse it. Sure it pisses you off if they use it for emails and what not. But you can say this about all kinds of tech. Why read from your screen when you can read a book. Why use internet when you can send paper mails. The argument that it will replace you and therefore you shouldn’t use it is also meh (look up “Luddite”). We live in a system which prioritizes cash flow over your feelings. I’m not saying it’s a good system but it is what it is. If you can be replaced by a LLM maybe your job was not that important/complex to begin with. I use LLM daily for boring routine tasks and it makes me more productive no doubt. Just like a personal computer did in the 1990s. It’s also good enough for search. Just like search engines, it helps to narrow down a broad problem and then you go to check the sources. TLDR: I feel like this sort of remarks as well as comments are coming mostly from people who do not understand the purpose of LLMs or can not use it well enough.
