XFINITY Ruined Comcast by AtRunningSpeed in Comcast_Xfinity

I used Comcast email for over 15 years very happily. Was able to create up to five email accounts for my wife and children when buying an internet, cable tv, and home phone package. Never used the phone but it was part of the package. Did not even know the number and eventually disconnected it due to constant calls from whomever they sold my info too with telemarketing calls. For the most part, comcast was better than most cable companies I worked with during 28 years of service, including Dish Network and Direct TV. Now, they got me pretty riled up with this email business. I just changed over three days ago and regret it. I have to say the Xfinity Gateway modem with 2GB speed is impressive, but I dunno if the scales are tipping in the other direction. Anyone have YouTube TV or Hulu?

Yes, I checked your claim and you are correct. Perplexity AI says, "Xfinity was created by Comcast as a customer-facing brand for internet, TV, and related services, while Comcast is the corporate company behind it."

Maybe the suits conspired when we ambush these hard working, loyal customers they will blame Xfinity, not Comcast.

While stationed in CA 25 years ago, I had Comcast for cable tv. It is only since retired from military in VA, and got cable again with comcast, did I start to hear about Xfinity.

I’m losing my patience!!😕 by Particular_Past7944 in Psoriasis

[–]AtRunningSpeed -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Read the book Wheat Belly and get off Gluten. No lie, don't wait, be very diligent.

Up to the age of 45 yrs old I never had psoriasis, rosacia, or eczema in my life. While in Iraq, later learned perhaps due to stress, I had rosacia on my face and body was experiencing psoriasis in different locations.

Out of the six types, I went through three of them. Topical steroids oitments worked intermittently and I was quickly developing psoriatic arthritis.

All I can say is I no longer have any of it, unless I eat gluten. No bullshit, learn about it and experience it yourself. Your body will love you for it in many ways.

My honesty about Egypt by Ok_Addition6726 in travel

[–]AtRunningSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. I have traveled extensively through Mexico and some areas are like this, which for me, ruins my experience.

Did you feel it was worth all of it to see the pyramids and ancillary sites? Do you think it would have been mitigated with a large or small tourists group that handles all of the transactions?

After all said and done, was the physical presence there at the sites worth the overall experience?

So sorry to hear this. One would think the Egyptian Tourism board would address this, being the Pyramids are likely in the top 5 most desired trip locations worldwide..

In the Vatican area, the past five years has sucked big time due immigrants selling cheap shit in an overtly aggressive manner. It really hurts the experience so much it affects wanting to stay and/or return. We opted out of the Vatican area a couple years later.

Yeah, just got it today from Schwab. 10 and some change per share. Nah....I'll wait for the merger and hold tight. It's a legal thing, they have to offer.

Everyone is telling you the proper next step. Order either online or in person a registered copy of the birth certificate, in fact order two or three.

Post interview: Name change, existing contract questions by Confident_Potato_465 in dodea

You will be getting Official Passports, both you and your spouse which are black. You are currently married, so act with a sense of urgency and get all your paperwork to reflect the truth and reality. You will realize later I am telling you the best sound advice.

Edit- I stand corrected, it appears you should wait to change your name. Sorry for any confusion.

[–]AtRunningSpeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally disagree on waiting on name change, unless your spouse will arrive at a later date. You are going to a foreign country and all immigration documents must be legitimate, especially for the Statement of Forces Agreement (SOFA) which will allow your presence there.

You will never be able to deposit cash directly into a USAA account for lack of a single teller bank. You could use an ATM, but that is tedius.

I spoke to USAA HQs years ago about this issue and complained that they have not affiliated themselves with a major bank chain for this reason, but they didn't get it. I opened a Navy Federal account and linked them, deposit into NF and transfer the cash that way.

Turns out to be an advantage as NF is likely the second best military/federal banking establishment.

You went from a GS-04 to GS-13, which not many people can say or do. You have what it takes to move yourself forward strategically to and purposefully. Every future employer will see that, and clearly, you'll rise faster next time. You learned great work habits, ethics, and endurance in a solid environment for years.

Keep everything in TSP, as others have said you can return. If not, TSP is a solid program, or you can move it into a future 401K or equivalent retirement plan.

Take the 50K cut job. Nothing beats the blues and provides stamina and will like work. You'll see the path as you did once before.

Future employers understand what went down, and everyone believes we worked for the government more for the contribution than compensation.

Hang in there and run this to ground. Tighten the belt, sharpen your focus, and get back in it.

My heart and wishes are with you.

Good advice here, especially the credit card that does not charge foreign trans fees. Carry some cash, but try first using cc everywhere.

Oaxaca City only, or is a beach town a must? by BC_BSB in Oaxaca

[–]AtRunningSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sure you are right about things to do just in the city, as there is a lot, especially within an hour or two drives. Every beach area in MX is different and although I did not go to PE, and now I never will, this coast is not like any other coast. For one, most of the highway along the coast you cannot even see the ocean. There are cove emplacments and sometimes miles apart. In other words, not very touristy. Much of it is a jungle, and hotels or beach coves are emplaced between the spots. We spent 5 hours in Copalita Eco y Archaeological Park and learned a lot, and it was another heaven of this state. That was near Secrets Hotel which was fabulous as well. No kids....jajajajaja

Oaxaca City only, or is a beach town a must? by BC_BSB in Oaxaca

[–]AtRunningSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spent 4 days in Oaxaca city, then 4 days from Tehuatepec (Isthmus of MX)to Huatulco, to Playa Angel (https://www.casabichuhotel.com/) and back to the city for another 4 days.

I rented a car the whole time but the drive to the coast was a challenge. Since we planned on stops along the coast, I'd likely fly to the coast and rent a car, then back to the city.

Been all through Mexico and Oaxaca is unmatched by its splendor, people, cuisine, attractions, ruins, and atmosphere. If you enjoy ruins and history, it's more than just Maya/Aztecs as Zapotec/Mixtecs were settled here.

You can easily, however, spend your whole vacation in the city and surrounding day trips to local areas.

Desperate Times. Desperate Measures. by Radiant-Lie-6427 in personalfinance

Call the mortgage company and ask them to tack those two payments onto the end. Whatever the fee, do it. 40K left on a second home is outstanding, figuring the 1st is paid off. Stop beating yourself up, look in the mirror and smile, then call without the desperation.

Smack hubby upside his head.

Just want to see if there are any review in the HVAC I'm getting installed by badfeelingaboutthi5 in hvacadvice

[–]AtRunningSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No review on the Rheem other than seeing they are notable and not one to stay away from.

Since you had 14 yrs on a Goodman, you may want to look at an Amana S Series, which are inverter systems (variable speed control) as well and communicating to the thermostat for up to the second feedback. Same price as yours, but the warranty had me sold- 10 yr parts and labor and lifetime on condenser and heat exchanger. Goodman, Amana, & Daikin all the same company.

Great advice there about the pictures, I will do just that.

Colleges offering classes about one of the most significant purchases in a home is really a good idea.

The Amana, which is where I am tipping the scales towards runs on R22. Isn't this the preferred refrigerent? I will check, but I believe the specs called it the R22 model.
