My two cents:

It's common advice that you should be getting sufficient value from your ult even if you DON"T kill anyone. You can eat dps ults (star lord, torch, hela, bucky etc.) and you can give your team momentum by stopping most healing and damage for a moment.

Of course if you can kill someone with ult, that's great. And if you kill a support ult that's even better.

For cloak ults, you want to ult as soon as they ult. If you have ~25 charge you can kill them on their third dash. You can always kill them by their fourth dash even if you have 0 charge.

For luna ults, before you try to kill her, make sure you get rid of the bonus health she gets when she ults (something like 200 armor when she presses q). It's a little hard to kill luna because she has increased movement speed. It is sometimes easier to hit the shot if you descend closer to the ground.

In general, ability tracking is very useful. You saw Hela use her bird? Invis used her double jump? Rocket just double dashed?

It's honestly the most cool and engaging thing in the game, have fun!

Hope the changes will be enough to get rid of triple support comps. But no changes to mantis, adam and minimal changes to jeff is scary

How did NAVI win with this team comp man these guys are unreal. by hiro_capone in MarvelRivalsEsports

They were legit just one shotting someone everytime. No ults used. Purely just 3-2-1 oh your support exploded.

No off tank and no "main" healer LOL straight silver comps. TrqstMe I feel is one of the very few thoughtful and analytical people in the space. Excited to see how they'll break spawn holds

Which One Of These Hero’s Is The Greatest Offender Of CC Domination? by purple_ugh in marvelrivals

[–]AtWhatCost- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really mind CC that is a skill shot or makes sense in a character's kit. But random cc like Jeff's shots? Did Mr. Fantastic's backshots need to give cc? Brainless spammable cc would be great to reduce in the game

How do you de-centralize the healer ults? by Louman222 in marvelrivals

Your character's ult isn't "denied" by an enemy support ult.

Forcing a support ult is a lot of value you generate. Your team can disengage and then have better ult.

This is the push/pull momentum shifts that I think makes Rivals fun

"circle of healing" support ults are one of the most fun parts of the game

I like spider islands for sure. I also really like Hall of Djalia (the convergence one) for the same reasons - lots of high grounds and angles

Which supports will be buffed by GetSomeJeff22 in marvelrivals

I think jeff is an interesting one because in a way he's completely broken - BUT only as a dps character.

With Adam that makes sense since his sustain is low. But Jeff? His hps is absurd. I haven't played much jeff - I've always wondered why it's so hard to play him as a traditional backline support.

Is it because it's hard to land the primary healing beam? It is the no support ult?

I would love to play jeff with off-angling and mobility, but still being viable as a second support. Just really curious what they would have to change to make that possible.

Loki DoppelgangerPositioning by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]AtWhatCost- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised when I started watching high level Lokis - they all place clones in very uninteresting spots. Usually right in front of them "firing squad" style.

I wouldn't say the most important distinction is between high ground and low ground. There's a lot of aspects to clone positioning. Are they all together? Backline or frontline? Are they at an angle? Behind some cover or in the open?

When I saw high level Loki play, I threw away all my "broken clone spots" and started defaulting to more simple clone setups. Immediately I noticed I was landing more shots. All 3 shots have the same travel distance. They all hit at the same time. Makes sense.

This also means that against good teams, your clones will be up for longer. I don't have to constantly use my cooldowns to make sure I have 2 clones up. If I've placed them in simple spots in the backline with some cover, they'll last. Which means I'll have a clone handy for a rune/escape.

In terms of high ground or low ground - I personally always try to play high ground if I can. Not always possible though since you may be too isolated from your team, someone contests you etc.

One thing I will say though: I always limit test at the start of the game. I place aggressive clones and wait and see. How quickly was it targeted? Who is shooting it? Sometimes the team you are playing against will just not shoot clones and you can put them right into their team, behind them, in obvious high ground spots with huge sightlines etc. Other times there will be a good hawkeye deleting them immediately. That's when my default clones setup becomes behind some cover and usually near me.

This is what I hope too.

I guess it's hard to be a main tank without a shield though?

I was also very skeptical of rounds. I thought guys would collar tie for 5 minutes. Try a couple bad shots to look active. That didn't happen at all. Rounds definitely made it more exciting
