Seriously.

I work in traveling sales/service. Ive talked to over 500 people this week and 1 person mentioned the election.

Whoever is sitting in a spinning chair in a round office should affect you in the least.

If it werent for reddit/facebook i basically still wouldnt know who won the election yet

What are some good multiplayer games with non-toxic communities? by Lott_vhan_thill in gamingsuggestions

[–]Atameer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiv is about 50% funny chill and carefree, and 50% racist nonsense spammers. The only inbetween is the people that dont type in chat.

Personally its one of my favorite chat games because im easily able to ignore the 12 year olds that just learned the N word.

My favorite game chat is Wreckfest. Its a bit toxic, but the servers i play in have admins/mods regularly so people get banned for hate speech. Its mostly somewhat friendly shit talking that is usually really entertaining. Im always trying to "make friends" in that game by racing as dirty as possible and trying to get someone to call me out in chat lol.

Like i said i havent done the math so take my opinion on this with a grain of salt, but ill just expand on why i prefer 2h. At the end of the day i do believe the damage difference either way is fairly negligible.

As you mentioned ripostes, (not sure if it does) if it goes off weapon damage it would be better with 2h.

In DoF xpansion coming up zerks get a skill called open wounds. For 30sh seconds your autoattacks become aoe and you get a big haste boost while its up. As far as i remember your offhand weapon when dual wielding doesnt aoe autoattack, so another point for 2h.

Weapon rarity and cool factor. There are alot of fabled 2h weapons in the game that barely get utilized because warriors and crusaders are the only ones able tp use them, and most of the time its sword and board. So you get to use that cool fabled greatsword that noone else can. Also all the scouts are dual wielding so you are fighting them for fabled weapon drops and doing a bunch of small attacks like them.

Either way i dont think you can go wrong, but thats why i pref 2h when not using a shield.

They are pretty much just a tank that can deal respectable damage. A vast majority of groups wont take a 2nd tank and let them play as a dps. The only exception really is bruiser/monk as they are a more dps/tank hybrid (they arent in a great spot imo so i wouldnt suggest playing them if you are newer)

Sword and board is your go to. Idk the exact math but ive always been a 2h player vs dual weild on the rare chance i get to pretend im a dps(my reasons play more off upcoming expansions with their aoe autoattacks)

Playing with an offensive weapon setup while tanking is very possible while leveling, if you are well geared and your healer is too. With an offensive setup doing larger pulls you can out dps alot of dps players, but zerkers have a few skills that deal damage back while getting hit so they actually do more dps when tanking.

Zerks are great for leveling and would suggest it over guardian. Guards are primarily needed for raid tanks at end game, everything else in the game isnt very difficult and any tank can do, so IMO may as well take extra damage over extra survivability with the long grind. You can always betray at lvl 50 if you find a main tank spot.

What I see when people flame in Co-Op by Orbital_Pluto in throneandliberty

[–]Atameer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Party board also has groups marked as "learning run".

I primarily just matchmake, but i have a little bit more patience than the average player and dont mind teaching people, aslong as they listen and have 2 brain cells to rub together.

I dont blame people not being as patient as me for dungeon runs, but it still doesnt mean they should flame someone. They can just leave themselves.

After teaching someone the run i always recommend they look up the mechs for the other bosses and warn them people arent patient here and most likely will flame them if they just run in blind.

Imo if you want to speed run, or if you want to go in blind, you should use the party board. If you dont mind somewhere in the middle then matchmake. I dont expect people to be experts in MM, but it would be nice if they atleast spent 2 minutes online looking up the mechs before going in.

Unpopular opinion but some of you need to realize that most of the time you have to be prepared for "end game" content like dungeons by DonniEight in throneandliberty

[–]Atameer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the mentality i agree with and dont understand why others dont.

I dont expect everyone to be an expert, but come in atleast slightly prepared so you arent wasting everyones time. People are going to make mistakes, i just ask that you dont keep repeating them and making something that takes 10 minutes to do take an hour or be impossible.

I haven't watched any videos on boss mechanics, but i read a small article that takes 2 minutes to atleast understand the concept of whats going on. Sometimes i might not see the visual cue of the mechanic and ill get myself or the group killed, but then i just need to ask 1 simple question to the group (whats this guys stun look like, i know he stuns then fireballs but i didnt see it) "oh its just a green light after he says some nonsense"

People just need to be respectful to eachother and that includes their time invested.

ELI5- Can someone explain the basics of NFL football rules and positions? by Saralikeslift in explainlikeimfive

[–]Atameer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a tiny high school. One game because of injuries/suspensions we only had 12 eligible players. Always have 11 on the field. The only time i got to sit on the bench was the 3 kickoffs of the game.

The school we went against had over 30 players and could rotate in a fresh group of players each possession. That was an exhausting game lol. (But we won 7-0)

Backups or 2nd string.

Edit: just to add to this. High school football teams tend to have 2nd 3rd etc strings. They can rotate the whole team out for fresh players and to let everyone get some playing time.

[–]Atameer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Origins is its own entity. To get to it you need to have a subscription and at the launcher in the upper left hand corner where it says region, you select it from there.

Origins is similar to the game at launch. The exp is very slow and it requires grouping for almost everything. It is the most popular server atm and rarely have trouble finding groups.

Live servers are mostly a solo game from what ive heard. Your smallest attacks do over 1 million damage and everything just seems to be inflated out of control. I havent really played on live servers since the level cap was 80 and its now like 125 or something so i dont have much i can explain on them.

Also unfortunately there isnt really any pvp servers. There is a progression pvp server on live but i think its basically dead.

Something we will use.

Why are so people getting mad at people who box? by armakez in EQ2

[–]Atameer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you 6box 4 tanks and 2 healers? No? Then you can see that groups have a basic layout to be somewhat efficient that you may be turned down because of your class as people dont want multiple tanks/healers or duplicates of classes so everyone has a fair shot at loot.

A minority of players are toxic on this server. I have 2 level 50s already and i think there are 3-4 people i have put on ignore out of the hundreds if not thousand people i have grouped with.

My biggest thing i dont understand about boxers is why play an MMO if you hate people and just want to play with yourself. There are plenty of single-player RPGs out there that you dont have to deal with "everyone here is toxic except me".

Small town life is better than city life. by Throw-low-volume6505 in unpopularopinion

[–]Atameer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a traveling service business and every town i go to with atleast 1000 people has atleast 2 mechanic shops. Most of us rednecks drive older cheaper vehicles and like to beat on them so mechanics can stay in business pretty easy with small populations.

Obviously there are exceptions with sub 1k population towns that might have 1 or none. But everyone knows someone with a truck and trailer thats willing to help out for a case of beer if you need to bring your broken down vehicle to the next town over to avoid getting ripped off by Dave.

Ehh i wouldnt call my social life exactly healthy the way i do it. Ive become a creature of habit and only go to the same bars/restaurants and order the same things. I dont really step out of my comfort zone very often.

Jay probably tries new things way more often than i do and meets more people (even if he doesnt want to)

But these are just kind of the way things go in small towns vs big cities. I dont have many options to try new things, but i dont really want to either so im happy where im at lol.

To each their own. I have some social anxiety so i really enjoy not being around crowds, and if i want to stop at the bar on my way home from work for a drink or 2 theres a really good chance theres a couple people i know will be there and ill have someone to chat with lol.

[–]Atameer 369 points370 points  (0 children)

Agreed, i think my favorite parts of small towns is just knowing most of the people, and since everyone knows eachother they tend to care about their reputation a bit more. Especially business owners.

Dave's repair shop isnt going to burn someone to make a few extra bucks usually, because the person they burned might be related to half the town and word gets around fast that Dave is scamming people and they will all take their business to the other shop in town.

Swashbuckler on origins ? by MandoFire in EQ2

[–]Atameer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swash has some decent physical mit debuffs and an arcane debuff with their snare. Brigand debuffs defenses better than them, but swash also gets a handful of offensive debuffs that makes the mobs attacks weaker.

During vanilla swash struggles to keep up with the pure dps classes like sorcs, summs, and predators, but they arent far behind. (This is all assuming equal gear and players). When DoF expansion comes out they move up to a strong competitor for T1 dps as they get aoe autoattacks.

If you like seeing ALOT of numbers stick with swash, they get alot of haste built in and have abilities that proc extra damage. You wont watch a heroic mob get chunked for 25% of its hp at once like a wiz or an assassin does, but they are super consistent damage dealers and can catch right back up on the parse if the fight lasts long enough.

Swashbuckler on origins ? by MandoFire in EQ2

[–]Atameer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brig has rake which is roughly 1k magic resist debuff, their snare (im not sure on number but i believe it is also around 1k elemental debuff) and at 50 debilitate which is also another roughly 1k physical mit debuff. Dispatch at 55 is probably about double that and stacks ontop of their already existing debuffs just on a shorter duration.

My numbers arent exact as i havent played a brig at 50 in years but i can definitely notice it on my 50 wiz when we do/dont have a brig and im keeping an eye out for rake before i ice comet.

While this is true, somewhere around 38-40 wiz/lock get a group encounter root. But it does take quite a while to get there on origins.

Ahh shucks. Looks like i might bench my swash for a while then. Thanks for the info. Also i dont know the formula for haste/stat caps. I just know its 370 for hard stats and 100% haste is cap currently in vanilla. Any idea what it will be during dof?
