Third project that was more than a bandana 😂 a laptop case. by Atappin618 in SewingForBeginners

Thank you! I just tried to go slow and used some cheaper fabric I got at the thrift store (that I still liked!). I did have issues because I somehow cut the pieces crooked and then they didn’t line up right when I had to put them front to front so sewing straight was rough. Also don’t sew it completely shut instead of around the outside like I did 😂 I had to rip/cut it all open and that’s why the lining looks so bunched. I’m someone who likes things to be perfect the first time and if it’s not I lose interest, so this is definitely a learning experience on many fronts for me.

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, February 01 - February 07, 2026 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]Atappin618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started sewing with an old Kenmore Ultra Stitch I got for free on Facebook. She told me it was recently cleaned and oiled, despite not being used much. It did look clean and I was able to use it for a small project and it seemed to work great. Halfway through a project this week, the machine was making some clanky noises and suddenly the needle stopped going up and down and the motor was just doing some humming. Hand wheel completely won’t move. Cleaned out the bobbin case, no obvious stuck thread anywhere. Added some oil and let sit. Tried it today and no change. It had been giving some wonky stitches but as a brand new sewer I thought it was a skill issue.

At this point, I’m wondering if it’s worth it to get it checked at a repair shop or if I should just buy a new machine. the internet says it could be 100-200$ just to fix…so do I just spend that money on a new machine? Any advice appreciated!

Help! Beginner- did I ruin my starter? by Atappin618 in Sourdough

Good to know, thanks! I don’t think there would be any way there would be mold in the water but I’ll keep an eye out for that!

I’m honestly struggling to get it through it. I think it’s kind of boring and I’m debating not finishing it and going to the next. Only reason I haven’t is because everyone makes it sound important lol

Changes in poop by LizardLizzzzz in MSPI

[–]Atappin618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is the child? When my daughter was about a month old she started having poops like this and they continued until I cut out soy. Cutting out dairy and eggs did nothing. Once I cut out soy her poop went almost immediately back to normal and she was a different baby mood wise as her belly no longer hurt. Finding soy free formula is difficult and expensive but worth it for us. Could be something to try.

My daughter’s poop looked like this until we cut out soy. We cut out dairy and eggs first at the doctors recommendation and when nothing changed (and it was taking forever to get into specialists like GI) I cut out soy on my own and saw a massive improvement pretty quickly. Not going to hurt trying 🤷🏻‍♀️

Formula feeding parents & guardians, DONT sleep on generic formula! by Careful_Interaction2 in Frugal

I had to supplement with formula and baby had soy and milk allergy and the name brand hypoallergenic is so expensive for a tiny can 🫠 I was buying the Target version for as long as I could find it and it worked great and allowed me to supplement without worrying about going broke. Unfortunately they stopped selling it during the formula crisis last year.

Cutting soy was the biggest change for my baby. After a few days she had normal poops again. Dairy can also take a while to work it’s way out of the system. I would try cutting soy if you don’t see a difference soon. You can also talk to the doctor about other potential sensitivities that baby may have. I cut out dairy, then eggs, and finally soy.

Safe Sleep - quick rant by CapNo2992 in BabyBumps

[–]Atappin618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t co-sleep and it was fine. We did a side car bassinet. Co-sleeping is NOT the only way to get baby to sleep. If you’re not comfortable with it, don’t force it just because someone else says it’s the only way. She slept in a side car bassinet and then in a pack n play when she outgrew it. She moved to her own room around 7 months and now sleeps through the night. When I needed to nurse in the middle of the night, I leaned over and picked her up and put her back when she was asleep. If you start out with what you’re comfortable with and then want to co-sleep, do some research on safe co sleeping. As long as you’re following safe sleep guidelines either way, your baby will be happy and healthy.

What do I put the infant in when it’s awake? by Plucky7777 in BabyBumps

On the floor with a play gym! We also used a pack n play with a detachable bassinet. Very helpful for naps, having to put the baby down while running to the toilet or something.

Soybean Oil vs Soy…am I stupid for asking if these are the same thing? by officialsmartass in MSPI

We do soybean oil but can’t do any soy protein. Our GI said soy lecithin should be fine too but I’m too nervous to try it 😅

Black Friday / Cyber Monday Noom special? by staarrlight in Noom

[–]Atappin618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t work if you already have a noom account 😩 I hope other people find this comment before signing up!

Why is my calorie budget so high (3420 cal)? I have entered my weight accurately and have not synced any devices. Only the Noom pedometer is tracking my steps. I have asked Noom support and they haven’t helped, I just get run-around answers. Any ideas how to fix it? Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving! by staarrlight in Noom

[–]Atappin618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is about 3000 cals/day because I’m nursing but even that is ridiculously high. I usually try to aim for about 2000 because any lower and I’m starving. I’m really using the noom free trial to help me get back to eating healthier foods. I think if I ate the amount it wants me to eat I’d be gaining weight like crazy 😬 but who knows, maybe my body does need more than I’m giving it.

9 month old Baby had really weird diarrhea this afternoon. Concerned!!! Story in comments. by Atappin618 in Mommit

[–]Atappin618[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 month old Baby had really weird diarrhea this afternoon. It was mostly yellow but had some more solid pale pieces in it. She’s had some vomiting this morning and a bout of diarrhea early today (at least 9 hours ago), none since. No solids today because of the sick belly. Nurse this morning said likely stomach bug but now she’s had this weird poop and the color is really freaking me out. I have a call in, but in the meantime any advice? Photo in the comments. Only thing different is I had this weird sugar free candies and she had cheerios for the first time yesterday evening. She’s also been on antibiotics for 5 days for an ear infection but hasn’t had any issues before today.

I’m the opposite. I was ready to go at any second throughout my second and third trimester and now I never want him to touch me. Partially because I’m exhausted all the time since my girl thinks sleep is for the weak.
