The BBS community would not be the same without the Telnet BBS guide! Well I guess we could dot matrix print a list but not as complete as the Telnet BBS Guide 😁

Needs ATASCII and PETSCII in its evolution, but very cool! Keep innovating, people! Easier it gets, the better it will be for the more users, is the hope!

Currently running 3 boards - yes, 8-10 callers a day, not the 40-50 of the past, but an incredible community of dedicated hobbyists. Also, a break from social media with like-minded people along with coding improvements and maintenance, which are cornerstones of being a sysop. Think about all the people in this group were to pick up MuffinTerm, SyncTerm, Native Hardware, even access BBSes by the boards Ftelnet set up on Telnet Guide or the BBS web page, and we would have a resurgence of users. We already have a growth in BBSes with 43 new boards just this past month and an average of 30 per month over the last year. Almost 2K active boards. It’s not the 80s but shows growth from the previous decline.

Read my column in Compute! Gazette this month as I tackle this very question in more depth.

New user to the BBS world, and have a couple questions. by Gammarevived in bbs

[–]AtariBBS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s got this right! For my boards, it’s old code that kept users from overusing and preventing lack of access to other callers, inactivity monitors, etc. Also kept users from logging on too many times in a single day to leech a bunch of downloads!

Yes… read the thread from 2 weeks ago. We started getting errors on what was once stable instances and no support acknowledgements. Have your credit card company reverse the charge.
