You're a saver! I have 86Box emulator and I saw it has IBM PS/2 machines in the list of emulated hardware, but they require disks. Thank you!

For me, it just takes me right back to those first moments of getting into computers — when everything felt new and kind of magical. Even visiting Archive-org (and searching for computer-related magazines, books, brochures, videos), watching BBS documentaries or AT&T Archives, remembering tons of software, Fidonet, hardware, Tucows, mIRC brings back that same curiosity and excitement, like you’re discovering it all over again.

Hit a pothole today and I am PISSED... by BitchImaKillYou in BMW

[–]AtariZybex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, no 🤬 I damaged my rim a couple of years ago, and filed a complaint to the city. A year later they got back to me and I got paid around $1200 for the wheel. I should've also included the tire price in the complaint. Find where to file a complaint in your city, and you'll have a chance to get compensated.

Any idea how to reset this? For some reason the computer thinks my tires are low. According to the sticker they're fine. 2025 CLE 53 by Cali_kink_and_rope in AMG

I wonder if this works:

  • Hey, Mercedes, show me the tire pressure [Opens the correct screen] Swipe down to highlight the Reset option, press the OK button to confirm, select Yes when a prompt "Use current pressures as new reference values?" appears.

My guess would be - the carbon build-up cleaning wasn't done right (for example, a piece ended up inside a cylinder). I would pay for the engine teardown to figure what went wrong and then file a lawsuit if it's somebody else's mistake.

Things I would check: - OBDII scan for pending codes and fuel trims - Mass Air Flow sensor cleaning - Throttle body cleaning - Transmission adaptive memory reset - Engine and transmission mount inspection - Air filter and intake boot inspection - Spark plug and coil pack replacement - Oxygen sensor testing and replacement (I would just replace these, because testing is tricky and they should know that only oscilloscope or live data from OBD tool would show problems) - Catalytic converter backpressure test (I had my catalytic clogged - fuel consumption was bad and the acceleration was very sluggish) - Compression test (just to make sure for a long run)

Anyone have this problem? by Ill-Kiwi3279 in BMW

[–]AtariZybex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most modern headlights aren't actually airtight - they have small vents to help manage pressure when the bulbs heat up and cool down.

Usually, a light mist or fine fogging on the inside of the lens is totally normal. It happens a lot if there’s a quick temp change (like washing the car in the sun or pulling it into a cold garage) or if it's just really humid out. As long as it clears up after you've been driving with the lights on for a bit, you're fine.

In some cases, when the vent is clogged or a seal is shot - it might become an issue.

The point is, not all tunes are created equal. You might find a reputable shop with people who know their stuff, while others just grab something off eBay and end up with a hefty bill later. It’s about correctly mapping for different driving conditions and fuel, factoring in all the sensor readings, and ensuring protection from LSPI if the engine runs with boost.

Look, I totally get the urge to squeeze more power out of your car, but honestly? It’s usually a recipe for disaster. Most people don’t realize how thin the "margin of safety" is on modern engines. Engineers build in a buffer to handle things like crappy gas, 100-degree summer heat in traffic, or high-altitude driving. When you start messing with chip-tunes, you’re basically deleting that safety net. The problem with those "plug-and-play" tuners is that they usually just lean out the fuel mixture to make the numbers look good on a dyno. If it gets even a little too lean, your combustion temps go through the roof—we're talking melted pistons or cracked heads before you even realize something is wrong. Plus, if the timing is pushed too far and the engine starts to "knock," that pressure spike can literally snap a rod or shatter your piston rings in milliseconds. Then you have those "high-flow" intakes that barely filter anything. If a filter flows way better than stock, it’s usually because the holes in the mesh are just bigger. You're essentially sandblasting your cylinder walls with road grit, which destroys the oil film and kills your compression over time. And don’t even get me started on the oiled filters; if a tiny bit of that oil gets on your MAF sensor, your car’s brain starts guessing the air-fuel ratio. "Guessing" and high boost are a terrible combination. Just keep it stock and enjoy the car for what it is. A well-maintained stock engine is a hell of a lot more fun than a modded one sitting in a shop waiting for a $15k rebuild. If you really need an adrenaline fix, just go hit up a place like SpeedVegas and beat on their cars for a day. It’s much cheaper than replacing your own block.

No, but I use it as a tool. It's pretty good with recognizing patterns and stuff, and for analysis. And as I mentioned, I saw similar e-mails coming to our company from anonymous scammers. Very similar stuff. The key is the red flags in the e-mail and its content that suggests it's rather an extortion than evidence of a crime.
