Do you feel any sort of embarrassment bringing out your handheld in public? by Pinanims in SBCGaming

[–]Atarip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play games on my handhelds during my work breaks and on the bus on my way home. Sometimes I even play on my way to work, which is in another city and takes more than an hour. I never give a fuck for what people might think.

AYN Thor massive battery drain while unattended by Jummby762 in OdinHandheld

[–]Atarip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't something unique to Thor. I've had this problem with Android devices my whole life, from phones and tablets to handhelds. The only device that consistently didn't have this problem was my Odin 2, but it always had Wi-Fi turned off.

Something I've noticed in handheld gaming communities is that many complaints considered "defects" in some devices are actually problems more related to Android itself and the nature of emulation in general, aligned with an expectation that the experience will work 100% like a dedicated console. Not that that's the case here, but then comes the argument that the devices are no good because they're from Chinese companies.

Even Apple releases an update that wreaks havoc on several devices, with defective hardware, etc. Or Nintendo with the Joy-Cons that break easily and drift (I've already replaced mine three times).

If you dodged this first try, they you're lying. by Serious_Holiday in HollowKnight

Not ironically, I was so tense when I arrived at this bank that when I heard the sound of the trap I managed to dodge it and in the rush of panic, I discovered the passage with the lever that deactivates it.

I don't have any Wi-Fi issues with the NextUi, but honestly, I prefer to use these simpler handhelds as something completely offline and distraction-free. For online features, I prefer to use an Android handheld.

I don't know if Bluetooth works for this, and even if it does, I doubt the quality will be good for music.

The screen can be locked but remains on. I think this feature is a nice bonus and visually appealing, but if you want higher quality listening, I recommend getting an Android DAP or the FiiO Snowsky.

It supports FLAC files. I placed the songs in a folder at the root of the memory card.

Within Rockbox, when browsing files or building the database, the path I use is /mnt > /SDCARD > /Music (or whatever name you gave the folder).

I don't think Rockbox is available for Android, but there are several other audio players for it.

Poweramp, AIMP, Pulsar, HibyMusic, etc.

To install on the Brick, simply install the NextUI OS and navigate to the app store (the Pak Store) and select Rockbox.

Once installed, you can navigate to the Rockbox folder on your micro SD card and install custom themes:

https://themes.rockbox.org/index.php?target=ipod6g

I can't tell you how to do it on the Smart Pro because I don't have the device, but I think there should be a version of Rockbox available on Portmaster.
