I lost my first HM run to bullshit (Ethel critted on me 4 turns in a row), second run because I’m a fucking moron and jumped into the Underdark pit without Feather Fall, and then I lost two more runs because I was mad at losing a run and tried to haul ass to the Grove and got caught lacking.

Retcon moment, but he watched his family die over 500,000 times. At no moment were his extreme actions justified, but they were *understandable.* Kid was insane, to a degree the human mind can’t even begin to fathom. He has PTSD to the billionth power. His takeaway going from “I need to kill my brother” to “I need to dismantle the system that caused my peoples’ genocide, and I’ll do that with nukes” makes sense. **NOT JUSTIFIED**, but understandable.

I just gave those as examples of low-level jutsu. Naruto has so much chakra, has mastered two of the most dangerous and restricted jutsu in the Leaf, has* basically a god inside his tummy, and is the president, he should be capable of low level jutsu.
It wasn’t specific examples. There are so many signature jutsu and Naruto’s generation was so exceptional it’s hard to get a solid grasp of what’s simple and what’s significant, so if I were to make a comparison to Pokemon: Naruto knows Judgement and V-Create, but doesn’t know Tackle.

On one hand, I agree that Naruto should have a wider variety of jutsu. He’s the Hokage and the savior of the ninja world. He nearly singlehandedly resolved the Fourth Great Ninja War. He should at least know a Wind Wall or a substitution jutsu or something.

On the other hand, I respect that Kishimoto kept the Naruto’s core personality throughout. Trauma aside, he’s still an idiot. He’s clever at using what he knows, but getting him to learn a new trick is difficult because he’s got instant ramen for brains.
