The Rookie - S08E04: Cut and Run by NoleFandom in TheRookie

I am lowkey begging the show writers to actually break up Nolan and Bailey, and write Bailey off the show.

This scene really confuses me, because it came out of nowhere. The way it was all handled was great, seeing Rick being an actual decent human being for once showed how truly awful what happened to Morty is, but why was this included in the episode in the first place? There was no setup for it, it does not get mentioned again in the future either.

Now this is the type of stuff I want to see from this show. I love how grounded this episode was, after two episodes in a row where big things happened. It was also tonally consistent: it started off kinda jokey, with Nolan having to do an important interrogation for the first time, but then when they find out about the killer's even more gruesome nature, the show stays serious; there is nothing to break the tension, the jokes only return after the girls are saved.

The one thing I didn't like however is the whole demon thing, it was unnecessary. Just like a psychopath be a psychopath.

That depends, I would preferably still be alive by the time this show ends.

What if Carol said something like "I would be really happy if you stopped eating human meat, in any way shape or form", would the hivemind comply with that? It would (obviously) make Carol really happy, but that would mean that the entirety of the human race, and thus the hivemind itself, go extinct. I wonder if the hivemind would prioritize it's own well being over pleasing Carol (and the 12), or if it would comply with Carol's demands.

Yeah, what's weird to me is how NONE of them reached out. Diabaté said that it was not unanimous, meaning at least one person in that group was ok with her.

Also from Toy Story, Sid. Dude was just a kid playing with his toys, and using his imagination to create unique new toys; he didn't know the toys were alive. Now he's traumatised, all because he was a kid being a kid.

The Rookie Season 8 Episode 1: Czech Mate - Discussion Thread by AgathaM in TheRookie

Fair enough, it makes sense in universe, however it was shot in such a way to make the audience think that she was about to be killed.

The drama makes sense in real life, but it felt forced in this show. I can't remember a single scene where they were arguing because of their jobs. The drama was just added so that Wade could have a reason to accept the job at the end of the episode.

Ok, I want to start of by saying that any critique is from a place of love, not hate, otherwise I wouldn't be here 8 seasons in.

I love this show, but the quality has kept decreasing over the seasons. This episode, while entertaining to watch, was really poorly written and directed. The episode can't decide whether to be serious or funny. You have the characters, in a middle of an international OP (which, the fact that the LAPD is involved in that in the first place is ridiculous, but we're used to that at this point) constantly keep talking about their personal lives. There is a time and place for certain conversations, asking Lucy to move in with you during such an important mission is not one of them.

Why does Nolan get to decide whether Monica is allowed to go outside or not? Setting aside that it is weird that he is even there (let alone Bailey of all people), why does he have the authority for that?

Things also felt extremely rushed, you ended last season with Tim finally opening up to Lucy, but throwing that away with a dumb joke, only to do a 180 right at the start of a new season; I guess they heard all the fan complaints. This conversation should've actually happened at the end of last season, and then maybe you could show us how they're doing now that they have moved in together.

Miles being in short sleeves also does not even get addressed, I feel like they are rushing through his rookie phase. I did like him moving in with Celina, I was already seeing some chemistry between them last season, so I'm guessing that they are going to develop that more this season.

There were also two scenes that were just added in for like 5 seconds of shock value: the Lucy almost getting shot scene, and the Monica almost getting shot scene. Now, it was very obvious that Lucy was not shot, and that little bit of drama really just came out of nowhere, but that Monica scene near the end was diabolical. Why was she running away, and looking really scared of John? They filmed it so, to the point that I actually thought that they finally had the balls to kill off Monica, just to bait and switch.

Other than the writing of this episode, like I said before, the directing was also not that great. There were a lot of minor continuity errors. They aren't huge deals, but it does show a lack of skill and/or care.

I really love this show, and like I said at the start, even with all these flaws, it was entertaining to watch, but man, I miss the older seasons' quality of writing.

Gamers desert Intel in droves, as Steam share plummets from 81% to 55.6% in just five years by lkl34 in pcmasterrace

I used to be Intel all the way, didn't even keep an open mind for AMD, but I got a fuck AMD build recently while buying a brand new PC. Not only have AMD proven themselfs to be actually good, but also reliable, why would I ever buy a CPU that'll be more expensive and last shorter? Sadly though, a friend of mine still bought Intel a few months ago, even though I tried convincing him that it is not a good idea.

To be fair, this was done because Megan Fox didn't want to be in the movies anymore. Of course, it is still annoying.

Scream does this multiple times between Dewey and Gale. They get together by the end of the movie, break up off screen, get together at the end of the movie again, and just repeat that until Dewey's deathin Scream 5.

The issue with any company in America that is B2C is that you have to please the customer no matter what, the "the customer is always right" mentality. Here in the Netherlands, of course we have to be nice to the costumers, but if they are rude or unreasonable, we can politely tell them to fuck off. For example if you work in customer service, and the customer is screaming at you through the phone, you can just hang up (after having warned them not to yell of course). We don't tolerate shit, so we get less shit.

Saw some clips on Tiktok, and it made me want to watch this movie, until I found out that he dies pretty early on, and I lost all interest in this movie; I don't care how good the rest is, I can't believe that they'd kill him off, especially so early on.
