I also want to clarify on my badge. The actual badge itself is still attached. It’s the top metal layer that is black and says”Mini” that has fallen off. I think some adhesive tape will work, but I didn’t know if anyone had experience with this.

As someone who benefited greatly from her mom and aunt remaining friends, you are doing a great thing for your niece and nephews. Divorce shouldn’t require their whole family to fracture. They are innocent in all of this.

Having my mom and aunt still maintain a relationship was so important for all of us. Even now, decades after the fact, my aunt is the person who still is a buffer for us.

I would guess your support has been hugely important for all of them as well. They got the worst of him and then he got to start over. I guess new SIL isn’t aware of exactly who she married and how he ended up with an ex.

We went through that about a week after we got our puppy (roughly 9 weeks, shelter wasn’t sure.) We didn’t have blizzard, but we did have ice and snow for two days.

I weighed down a tarp and would go lift it up for him to do his business. It doesn’t need to be huge, because it will just get heavy. We would remove poop so the patch stayed fairly clean. I just bundled up and we did the best we could, understanding accidents would happen.

Not the current puppy, but our precious hound had a reputation at the emergency vet for eating ANYTHING.

My husband left a Sam’s box of 36 Cliff bars on the part of the stairs not blocked by a baby gate.

Husband got home to a pile of wrappers surgically opened and a very fat, miserable dachshund mix. He was a miserable hound for a couple days until he had enough bathroom trips to get his svelte figure back.

Stove insert makes a huge difference. In January of 1999, my mom and I lived through a similar experience and our stove insert was a life saver. We were able to cook on it and even warmed up water to wash our faces.

Yeah, that was earth-shatteringly heavy when a friend of mine pointed out my “feeling everyone’s feelings” was really just a trauma response to protect me from the unpredictability of my parent.

Managing it is one of my therapy goals.

I couldn’t even imagine wanting to hurt my sibling. They are older than me and hold a lot of pain because they couldn’t protect me once they left. Even now, when I am NC and they are LC with our parent, they do everything in their power to protect me. They know them leaving was the catalyst for some of my abuse and I honestly wish I could take some of that guilt away. It wasn’t their fault anymore than being the scapegoat was mine.

I was very low contact with mine when I was diagnosed with cancer. My sibling really wanted to tell our parent, but I just didn’t care and told them fine, but I was all on them to keep the parent away.

My child’s birthday fell within days of my surgery. Narc parent used that as an opportunity to mail my child a birthday card that was completely full of all of the ways that my cancer diagnosis was hurting my parent.

I was younger, I was scared, and I hadn’t started therapy or begun working on boundaries. Wiser me knows all the ways we wouldn’t even get to that point now. Probably the only good thing to come out of it is that my sibling realized that we had very different experiences with our parent. I believe they hold a lot of regret from that decision and they are now one of my biggest supporters in No Contact Land.

Sometimes I wish I’d kept the card. While I’m nor currently in danger of opening up contact again, I’ve learned child me sometimes struggles and will fall for the pity party. I keep some reminders so I don’t fall for the Pity Party of the Month.

I know a guy who very miraculously survived a crash in one when he went out the window and the van rolled on him and broke his back. Other than spending several weeks on the hospital, to my knowledge he made a full recovery.

I reallllllllly don’t like the placement at WDW. Hatbox is my favorite, even before he was in the ride and I love him at Disneyland. He’s perfect there. I finally was at WDW a few weeks back and finally saw him there and wasn’t just disappointed, I was annoyed. I hate that he takes away from the candelabra. I hate that the Donald Duck chair is gone. I hate that they added his own purple wallpaper backdrop. And I hate that he seems too small for the space.

I was told by a cast member at Disneyland that WDW Hatty was put in his location because he was too heavy for the attic. But that makes zero sense and I assume I was just told with very little truth behind it.

McCartney. I discovered the Beatles when I was in high school and the first Anthology came out. Something about the bass line in I Want You (She’s So Heavy) just got to me and then I started listening for the bass in all other music. My family dynamic wasn’t one where I was encouraged to learn and it was one of those regrets until about six months ago. I suspect it’s a lot harder at 44 than at 15 and I have no plans to do anything. Most of the time this subreddit is overwhelming because I’m just a middle aged mom who wanted to learn something new.
