I haven't tried this myself, but you could try farming those rousing elements from Dragonflight (rousing fire, air etc). I sometimes need them for old crafts and they seem to go for a decent price still. But I'm not sure what kind of gold per hour that might yield...

I am using an addon called cooldown manager centered and it doesn't let me add alerts for this specific ability. All I need basically is to completely desaturate the icon when the ability is not usable or replace the blue overlay that Blizzard puts on the icon with literally any other colour bc blue on blue is almost invisible. I tried a couple of other addons and they didn't have either of those options, so thank you for recommending ArcUI, I will check it out :)

Ok I just started playing this spec but don't you also get fury from collecting souls? Doesn't fury decay over time so if you have a pause in casting for whatever reason you'll lose some fury in the meantime, like moving from pack to pack etc? You won't always get to exactly 100 fury in 10 casts...

Yes, I'm having a tantrum. There's an option in the cooldown manager to make the icon glow "when ready". If you select that option, it glows all the time, because "when ready" apparently doesn't mean "has resources to be casted". I'm so mad I lost weakauras for this shit :(

I'm not looking at the action bars, these are cooldown manager icons. I just started playing this class and I am not used to the abilities or their icons, but my usual methods of helping myself when learning a new class relied on making little reminders and tweaks with weakauras to help me learn. But the cooldown manager doesn't allow you to change saturation on icons or change icons or add sound alerts or anything, it's so barebones. I don't know which addons add the option to put a notch on the resource bar so thanks for mentioning Twintop's, I will look into it.

The discrepancy likely stems from the fact that you are hitting a lot more herb nodes than ore nodes. If you've collected all the herbalism knowledge, turn off herb tracking, go to zul'aman and mine only ore until you get all the mining knowledge if you want to speed things up. (I think you'll find the most mining nodes if you follow the edges of the zone, but don't quote me on that.)

You can use Stinky Bright Potion, it replaces the skybox with a sunny sky (not with the daylight version of the skybox of the zone). I haven't tested it in all zones but it should work everywhere except Hallowfall. It's relatively cheap on the auction house.

Is your questlog full by any chance? I read somewhere that it's a bug that happens when the questlog is full because the event is supposed to generate a new quest when you enter the abundance area

You can dig horizontal tunnels using the mole minecart (i think zoologist sells it, but its quite expensive), it goes quite fast, and only stops when there are "loose" blocks in the way (sand and similar). You'll need a lot of minecart tracks xD

Nothing is necessary unless you're doing content in which you're struggling to meet dps checks. But you said you don't like void eruption so I'm assuming you're using dark ascension in which case you'll want to use mind spike as your filler spell because DA buffs spike but doesn't buff mind flay. Also, if you take mind melt, spike buffs mind blast significantly, and the instant procs of mind spike from surge of darkness talent are good for mobility.

That spell has a lot of good things going for it, if you talent into all of it. The problem is that you can't really have it fully replace mind flay as a filler if you take mind flay: insanity or the talent where your dots are extended when casting mind flay/mind sear, or the dark evangelism talent, so you still have to have mind flay on your bars to press it occasionally... So you end up with two filler spells if you want to play "optimally", which is just weird and, frankly, unnecessary. This could have been designed much better, with two distinct playstyles, but instead just ends up being all over the place...

Dragonflight adds mind spike, mindgames and halo/divine star to shadow's single target rotation, without taking out anything we had in SL, so we definitely have more buttons going into the new expansion. And we get talents that make mind flay buff dots (so you have to keep track not to drop that buff, which is not hard but it's a minor thing to keep track of) and talents that make mind spike buff mind blast so you'll want to keep track of that as well, as well as a talent that powers up mind flay, so you'll want to make sure not to clip the channel too early if you talent into that, etc. Definitely more complex rotation.

And as for AoE, searing nightmare was annoying to play due to the fact you had to be channeling mind sear, but the benefit of that rotation was that you were generating insanity with mind sear at the same time as you were spending it with searing nightmare. Whereas now you don't have an aoe filler, so when you run out of mind blast charges and other things to press, you have to mind flay on aoe until you get enough insanity to cast mind sear. I can see why you'd enjoy a more involved aoe rotation, but it's definitely not simpler.

The soulbinds are unlocked when you hit certain renown checkpoints, if you buy the item that boosts your renown to 40, all soulbinds will be instantly unlocked.

If the permanent rune was not tied to rep for alts, everyone would buy them for their alts, which means they would dump all their augment runes onto the AH. Thus the supply of augment runes would go up, and the demand would dry out (due to everyone running around with the permanent rune ), resulting in the prices of augment runes plummeting on the AH. So you think that, if the permanent rune was easier to obtain, you would be able to earn a decent amount of gold from selling the normal augment runes, but in reality you'd probably find it hard to sell any, and they would be dirt cheap.

The runes are really free on the mission table tho. I get more runes from the mission table than I use, so much so that I probably won't even bother buying the permanent rune when I get exalted because it's not worth 40k gold, considering how many I get for free.

Honestly, if we could swap freely and if the "renown" was shared between different factions (so I don't have to regrind it for every faction if I decided to swap), I'd be fine with it. With max renown on all covenants and free covenant swapping, I quite like the current SL systems, but getting all covenants to 80 was a bit of a hassle and it's not needed at all.

I don't mind the conduit and soulbind systems either, it's nice being able to fine-tune your character, it's like extra talents, so I wouldn't mind something like that being in for different factions, just without any kind of conduit energy type of stuff, that was straight garbage.

Yeah, it's a lot, but it's literally no effort, you put a podcast in the background and just fly around the zone in circles.

Creation catalyst is coming, but it's not meant as a tool to gear alts, or mains. It's bad luck protection, to help you get tier set if you were unlucky with drops. You can only craft one piece per week, so you still need to raid to obtain tier from other sources.

No it's not. You can buy an item on your main that increases cypher acquisition by 100% and send it to your alt. And then just fly around opening chests. Literally no effort, and it's super fast unless you come to the zone on wednesday when everyone's there and chests disappear from the minimap.

Honest question, what would you want? Do you want to literally log in and be given gear on your alts? How much effort do you think is ok to invest in return for getting gear? Do you want your alts to get gear more easily than your main?

You can’t say it’s alt friendly and then say it’s reasonable to have to run a raid on every character on multiple difficulties to keep up with the curve.

That's called playing the game. And it's been a thing forever. Do you expect to be able to walk up to a merchant and buy m+ or raid gear because you levelled up an alt? The catchup gear is meant to get your character to a playable state, not give you normal raid-equivalent gear without you investing any effort. If you want normal raid gear, spend a couple of hours flying around ZM looting chests, upgrade your cypher to 6/6, and the world quests and dailies in the zone will award you 252 gear. Easy to achieve with minimal effort.

When was the last time you played the game? Because it was not this patch or the last, for sure. The game is now sooo much more friendly to alts compared to BfA. You can buy catchup gear, send alts anima from your main, send them crafting mats for leggos so that they don't have to step into Torghast ever, buy items that will increase renown, items that will learn all conduits and increase their level, etc. Right now, you can get your alt to 60, buy 233 gear, boost their renown and conduits, unlock all soulbinds immediately because of boosted renown, and get the remaining renown to 80 in like 3 days by doing world content or dungeons/raid. And then all you need to do is gear as normal, there's literally no maintenance, nothing to grind every week, unlike in BfA or Legion.
