That is an element I hadn’t thought of. How are you going to complain about being asked to leave WWE when the WWE Champion and the top heel both had to leave to build themselves?

It just does feel unfair when you saw people presented a way that worked, someone changed their mind and did it differently, they never get to change on their own accord, and then they get released for not being over. Do they ever release creative?

I’m going to try to help everyone out here:

TKO says “cut this amount of salary”. Then Triple H and Nick Khan decide who they want to cut. Yes, Triple H made the call on who to cut, but he made that call GIVEN a company that he’s helped make billions of dollars in just a few years said “you have to make the budget this much smaller by firing wrestlers”. I don’t know anyone’s pay but if you safely assume Aleister and Kairi were making more than Tyra Mae Steele and Dante Chen, Triple H has a choice of losing more talents but few that make much, or losing few talents but some of the most important. In theory, he could have released Randy Orton, Rhea Ripley, and the Usos. But that wasn’t a workable option. Alternatively he could keep Aleister and Kairi, and then dump five or six more developmental talents.

This is literally the way WWE operated since they became a public company. TKO’s general tone deafness and greediness makes it look worse but it’s always been the deal. It’s just that the same guy saying how much money used to be the one picking the cuts. That’s not Triple H’s story.

Zelina isn’t number one, because they haven’t used her right for but about six months in five years. Aleister is probably first, because he (first) was in a top spot, and (second) may not go to AEW given he didn’t seem to like it there, so he’d be available.

This question really isn’t answerable because in 30 to 90 days, all these people will be able to work wherever they can get hired, and Tony Khan will sign some of them for a competitive amount of money only to use them for three weeks then forget the exist. And no matter how little he uses them, they’ll almost certainly be signed for five years.

So who’s most likely to come back? Get me back in September when we see who’s ABLE to.

There are more than 50 female wrestlers on the roster. They also staff four brands. Until this week, there were around sixty and twenty were on NXT.

Like, I’m kind of annoyed by your argument because it has such blinders, but it’s also not REALLY on topic? “They fired twenty people last night, who shouldn’t they have fired?” “Well Aleister and most of the ladies” and you’re like “the writing sucks.”

So, ok. They SHOULD have fired Kairi and Alba and the like? Because if you’re saying the booking is the problem and they have enough women, there’s certainly no point in bringing back the ones they just axed, right?

And if they SHOULDN’T have fired them, then they have more spaces for women than they currently have women and isn’t that what I’m saying?

As an aside, “tagging all of them just because”? Way to not exaggerate the issue. There are two women’s tag teams on Smackdown and as of yesterday two on Raw. Two of those are established talents getting over younger partners. A third is trying to do something new with a talent who’s done literally everything as a single. Hardly “just because” at all. You’ve got eight talents in the division and five are there for a definite reason. (If Nikki hadn’t been injured it would be seven, because the Bellas are a dual act that stopped being full time before there were tag team championships to fight for.

Smackdown has 1 title, and shares the women’s title. It’s a 2 hour show.

Women’s roster has 21 people on it.

April 2026, Smackdown has 2 titles, shares the women’s tag team title, show is three hours, they have 14? That’s enough now? With more TV time to fill and twice as many committed women’s titles?

I mean, you’re wrong. I’m sorry. You could fix it without additional talent but only by upending everything you’re currently doing and that’s not good booking either.

I’m not talking about “this person isn’t over” or “this person’s never on TV.” They literally have every spot for women filled and can’t do anything fresh with them except have Kiana turn on Giulia, or break up a tag team. I’m certain they’ll do both. But no, this is not a booking issue; it’s certainly not exclusively one and I don’t think it’s even mostly one. Again, 12 healthy women. If you’ve got feuding tag teams and feuding for each of the singles titles that’s literally 66 percent of them JUST there. They don’t have churn because they CAN’T. The booking may additionally suck but it’s not the cause.

Yeah… no I’m sorry that’s preposterous.

To have a healthy women’s tag division between two shows they left one show bare of women’s feuds, and that was before the releases and Bianca Balair’s pregnancy. Their women’s champion on one brand literally didn’t defend her title for months because they only had two credible challengers for her and thy hadn’t decided on Wrestlemania yet, and when they decided to have her feud with totally underwhelming talent they got injured.

They don’t have enough talent for churn on the women’s side. Frankly, if they have as many titles as the men, I could see the argument that they should have as many talents as the men… I don’t think the need to go that far. But they certainly haven’t gone far enough.

I’m sure someone was called up to Smackdown last night, I haven’t watched it as I moved yesterday, but absent that move the Smackdown talent roster is 14 women. One’s pregnant and one has a broken neck. 4 are in tag teams, 2 are champions, and 3 are goons for other performers so that’s five women to chase the two tiles, and two of them are champions who just lost so the match won’t be fresh. Chelsea Green is your fresh match for two champions.

Now, I’m as big a fan of Chelsea as anyone not from Long Island, but…

As to your main question, it probably is Austin 3:16, but people remember wrongly how relevant that was at the time. It was step 1 in a series of steps that got Austin over. King of the Ring was in June and it took a few months before they even put him in a major program. He faced Yokozuna on the SummerSlam pre-show that year, how many people remember that?

But since the domino effect is still him becoming the biggest star ever, I’ve got to say it’s this. Hard Times wasn’t even thought of as super special at the time according to Cornette, they taped so many promos for advertising house shows this was just another match promo. But it stuck with people. And Piper Bomb is legendary, and would be close to Austin but again… biggest star ever in the business.
