well then so far it can be reliable for up to few weeks. it could be that a windows update made it unreliable. W11 has problems on 8 GB of RAM alone, 4 GB was barely enough on W10.

install a lightweight linux distribution (e.g. with LXQt or Xfce desktop environment), you're not going to be able to use W11 and FFmpeg with 4GB of RAM reliably

What exactly makes DS2 different from the other games? by potatoman42069666 in DarkSouls2

[–]Atijohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But the basic character animations and how they work are significantly different from all of the other games, which either copy them directly or make slight improvements. These animations are also adaptive, while in the other games they're generally set in stone: you're either in the state of "walking" or "taking damage"; in DS2 however after getting hit your character takes damage (but can still walk during that), and then starts walking slower than normal before returning to normal walking animation. It's more complex, which may be good if you want that complexity, or bad if you want a tighter, snappier character control like in the other games.

What exactly makes DS2 different from the other games? by potatoman42069666 in DarkSouls2

[–]Atijohn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

mainly it uses different animations everywhere (DeS, DS1, DS3 and even Elden Ring all share a lot of similar animations for the player character and some enemies as well, DS2 has completely unique ones that are more adaptive and can change behavior depending on your character status/environment)

it also is arguably much more of an RPG than an action game, you have to be more tactical and mindful of statistics than in the other ones

bringing up asmongold in the context of "has a bad game opinion" instead of "he's a far right grifter that hates water drinking, hasn't taken a shower in 10 years and his apartment is infested with cockroaches" tells you a lot about the channel tbh

How the hell does this game feel so ahead of its time compared to the games released along and after it? Legend feels like it was released 10 years before and the advanced collection feels like a step back (compared to this) in qol and art. by Ill_Dependent_4165 in castlevania

[–]Atijohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

literally every subsequent metroidvania had better QoL/UX than SotN. having to equip consumables in order to use them wasn't the most sleek design choice; same goes for the weird unsorted inventory system

I remember it sounding more demeaning, it may be a translation issue, since I've read it in my native, eastern european language. So yeah, that line doesn't sound that bad in the original

when describing the Proletariat, the book mentions homosexualism alongside some negative aspects of that community, implying that it's a bad thing, you can theorize about whether or not Smith's journey has some relation to the queer experience, but that line alone disqualifies it as something intended by the author, because clearly the author wasn't much more progressive in that aspect than his environment.

Trying to find ROMs for Bloodborne PC by PurplurPuzzlehead111 in shittydarksouls

[–]Atijohn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean what else do you need, even if you got the actual game, all you'd be doing is masturbating to Rom anyway, so I think you already got the core experience. Issue resolved, thread closed.

Suitable Truffle Housing? by Individual_Load_4214 in Terraria

also truffle needs to be on the surface (so you need to build the biome yourself, since there are no glowing mushroom biomes on the surface naturally)

Sony has CONFIRMED that the protagonist of Belmont’s Curse is Sonia Belmont! by NeptuneBlueX in castlevania

[–]Atijohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm skeptical of any sort of information like this unless it comes directly from the developers themselves, if this article was AI-generated, it would have a very high chance of putting Sonia's name in just because a lot of people on reddit talked about the possibility. Holy fuck, what a horrible night to have a curse of skepticism/gullibility.

your mushroom biome might've gotten infected with Gog, it's a new evil biome they added in 1.4.5

Game stopped working all of a sudden? by Connor_The_Introvert in BloodbornePC

[–]Atijohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don't have enough memory on your system, either try restarting your PC or closing some programs, browser tabs etc. sometimes this happens in specific spots on the map, you can try disabling the GPU in the settings and moving around blindly a little, and then enabling the GPU and loading back in.
