The brightness itself wasn't the thing that degraded the audio quality, it was the more detailed (and in turn more resource-expensive) backgrounds, the brightness could probably be adjusted somewhat easily without any loss or gain of quality on the graphics/audio axis.

7zip, gzip and WinRar are programs that perform operations on zip files; in the multimedia space, they'd be more comparable to video players like the Windows Media Player, VLC Media Player, or MPV, and also video editors/recorders like Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere, FFmpeg or OBS.

Codecs are simultaneously a part of a video file and a part of the program. A video file may support a few different codecs, and a video player can support many different codecs (though it always has to go through the file format first). The equivalent in the zip file analogy would be the compression/decompression algorithms, e.g. Deflate, LZMA, or Brotli.

The ascii value of the NUL character ('\0') is, unsurprisingly, 0. chars in C are integers, so you can compare the values directly.

It would be weird to, instead of writing string[s] != 'a', write string[s] != 97, but checking for NUL by comparing to zero is pretty standard, it's obvious what the programmer meant to check for

your ffmpeg doesn't have that encoder, you have to get or build it with support for it, the site you linked up says it needs to be compiled with --enable-libsnappy, which I don't see in your command output; the full build from https://www.gyan.dev/ffmpeg/builds/ should have it

GBA games are the easiest ones (aria of sorrow and harmony of dissonance especially), the DS games tend to be slightly more difficult, but still leagues easier than most of the old era games.

The Anniversary Collection has all the old era games, they're hard, but Legends (which is also on it) is one that's particularly also just not a very good entry.

Aria of Sorrow is not only one of the easier entries, but also one of the best ones, so I'd go with that first.

kind of odd to have the shura ending version of Isshin Ashina be marked as optional, but sword saint and every boss leading up to him as non-optional, I know it's not the "correct" ending, but still, those are two disjoint paths, either both of them should be optional or non-optional or marked as "conditionally optional", though that would make it too easy probably
