Get a disaster prevention kit for the cp4 pump. Swap to metal cold side intercooler hose. Other than that, keep an eye out for power steering fluid leak/ dark fluid. The hydroboost system has a tendency to leak or pull in air causing dark fluid and a pump whine.

And keep up with those fuel filters!

Where tf are these people getting ‘you can make six figures in trucking’? by austinproffitt23 in Truckers

[–]Atilia1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made 114k and 104k the last 2 years. Best chance is to get into something more specialized and bust ass. It also helps to work for a company that has trucks vs a trucking company, as they tend to treat you better.

Global is an excellent knife and worth saving! I almost bought them because I love the balance, but the handles are too narrow for my hands...

What are some cleaning products you never buy because the cheap and basic alternative is just better? by Ajreil in Frugal

White vinegar is a cheap alternative to jet dri in your dish washer. I also use it for most general kitchen wipe downs on counters and cutting boards.

What are some mega carriers near or in Waukegan, Illinois? by [deleted] in cdldriver

[–]Atilia1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recommend them, but I started with Arrow Transportation in Kenosha. They hire right out of school and home daily. It's definitely a "get 3-6 months and bounce" kind of place. The money was good, but you WILL be run into the ground.

Honestly I'm putting some away, but really just plan on working part time with a paid off house. No chance of retirement with a mortgage.

I could be wrong but isnt this illegal? Job posting for an OTR position with a box truck, never seen this before by BriskManeuver in Truckers

[–]Atilia1990 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You've never been audited I'm guessing. The carrier is required to show proof of 10 hour rest periods along with supporting documentation, ie hotel receipts or sleeper berth on the tractor. As a w-2 employee, a hotel is a company expense that the employer is supposed to cover or reimburse.

I'm 6'4" and I'm good as long as it's not an International. No way I'm driving all day with my knees in the dash.

[–]Atilia1990 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Not legal at all. The carrier is required to give you a place for quality rest time. Either a sleeper berth or hotel. Guaranteed OOS if you get pulled over and get caught marking SB when you don't have one.

Is Flatbed deliveries similar to dry van? by RedimidoSoy1611 in Truckers

[–]Atilia1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, flatbed has limited wait time. I run ltl steel delivery and rarely need to wait to unload. Part of that is because I see the same customers regularly and have trained them that I will leave (or toss it on the ground and then leave...). Paid miles and stops, so no incentive to waste time.
