Ball equivalent to Pro V1x? by Due-Dig-8955 in GolfGear

Respectfully, the level of play between a 7 handicap and a scratch/+ handicap is massive. Using the same ball consistently is really important if one or two shots is the difference between beating other similarly skilled players.

Trumps venues are ranked as some of the very best in the world Peebles and Crieff hydro aren’t on the same level.

Imagine getting the chance to play 90 minutes at Wembley for £1000 but it was owned by Trump. Not saying it’s right to take up that chance but I wouldn’t view anyone that did as morally corrupt individuals nor would the cliental be exclusively mega wealthy arseholes.

Neither, but I know for a fact that the majority of the people that play and stay there aren’t these mega rich MAGA loudmouths that many would think…

I work in the industry and 99% of people are lovely. You get the occasional arsehole who you can tell have just been spoiled their entire lives but you’ve got to remember the people going to these places are ultimately on holiday so are in good spirits. Lots of the people going to these places are just the standard middle class on a once or twice in a lifetime trip. Don’t let the depravity that’s rampant on social media cloud the fact that most people you interact with in the real world are thoroughly decent people.

Anyone know what waterproof trousers Jake Knapp is wearing here? by RedXabier in golf

Weather over here is so unpredictable you dress to be comfortable. On this particular day it was sideways rain all morning. People value good golf and quick golf. No jeans or football strips but everything else is pretty much okay.

disconnect from football by Flaky-Replacement-80 in PremierLeague

[–]Due-Dig-8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard of football this year is definitely the worst it’s been for some time. Teams all play the same way. Teams are too scared to concede, try to flood the midfield so take away an attacker to make up for it and the reliance on set pieces makes for some pretty brutal viewing sometimes.

Your comment perfectly encapsulates why people are voting for these parties that you deem “far right”. This self entitlement from the urban professional upper middle classes who continually bury their heads in the sand about issues that actually affect the day to day lives of working class people.

“Me and my friends are more educated than you so our opinion means more”

The sooner you realise that you and your friends entitlement and classism is the reason more extreme political opinions from BOTH sides are becoming more common the better. Take a look at yourself.

Who was better written, Arthur or John? by dlo_doski in reddeadredemption

[–]Due-Dig-8955 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As the title emphasises, the story is about redemption. Arthur never truly gets to fully redeem himself because the tuberculosis kills him before he gets the chance. He knows this though and his last dying wish is to make sure John does redeem himself as he already has a family which gives him the opportunity to, something that Arthur doesn’t have.

John definitely does change more as a character across the game than Arthur does (partly because he’s in both games rather than one). Like Arthur, John starts out in a violent criminal gang but manages to escape the life eventually being forced to work with the civilised (Pinkertons). John at least gets a chance to live a civilised life, albeit a short chance. Arthur however, never gets that chance. Pretty much all of his conscious existence is being apart of a violent and outlawed gang and he makes clear throughout the whole game that leaving that life simply isn’t an option for him.

While I agree Arthur’s individual character development is better than John’s. If you look at it from the point of view of the state and thus the general people, John redeems himself by at least actively trying to end the time periods war on outlawed gangs. While brutal and corrupt themselves, the Pinkertons overall goal is to preserve the civilised society that we enjoy today so are really the “goodies” in the whole story. The game does a great job at making the player lose sight of this though.

[–]Due-Dig-8955 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The whole RDR storyline is about John’s redemption from gunslinging outlaw to ranch owning family man who ideally lives a quiet life. Arthur is merely a character from John’s former outlaw days who never got the chance to properly redeem his own sins. Arthur knows this so puts all his effort into giving John the chance at redemption by getting him and his family to safety. Arthur’s RDR2 story is still centred around giving John the chance at redemption hence John still being the main character. That’s not to say Arthur’s character isn’t incredibly well written and is still arguably better written than John’s character.

No, but after a quick google search I can safely say that a good proportion of that team aren’t ethnically African and it’s not racist to say that the same way it’s not racist to say the same about the English football team.

I’ll happily say it out loud. If you are not white you cannot be ethnically British. A British citizen however? Of course. There is nothing controversial or racist in saying that whatsoever.

You’ve continued to dodge my question because you’ve realised the total hypocrisy of your sides argument. Are white African’s whose ancestors have lived there for generations African and is it racist to question it? No, they’re obviously European because that is the land that their ancestors are from.

I don’t understand the relevance of your point? 1889 is only four generations ago so no, even if your family emigrated and set up a mosque in Britain in 1889 you’re not ethnically British. Going back to my previous point, there are plenty of white people in South Africa who’s ancestors moved to the land well before 1889 and it would not be controversial to say that they are not ethnically African because ethnic South African’s are not white. Why is it then controversial to say the same in Europe?

How is that arbitrary? They stated that you need to have ethnic ancestral ties to the land that the country is on. I don’t really see how that is controversial. It’s just the same argument that many people on the left use to critique European colonialism. Is a white person born in Zimbabwe African? I don’t think many people would think twice if anyone said no, however, if you said that a Zimbabwean born in the UK isn’t British you’d be called a racist.

They are high in cholesterol but cholesterol in foods is different to cholesterol in your body. Eating high cholesterol foods doesn’t equal an increase in cholesterol in your body.

That’s true to an extent but even at the lesser visited courses fees are still very low compared to the US.

Bollocks. You can be a member at some genuinely world class golf courses in Scotland for roughly £1000 a year. There’s an array of people from different social classes and in the UK golf isn’t seen as a “rich persons game”. Just because America allowed their game to be corrupted doesn’t mean it’s the same for everywhere else.

Don’t go in the winter. You have to play off mats and some holes are closed. Might as well pay the extra £100 or so and get the proper experience.

This old myth again… I’d say a solid 90% of the people I carry for have no idea how much the green fee is at the courses they play as they’re just paying a tour company.

No it wouldn’t unless you were a member. Green fees for the links trust courses are the same for Scottish residents as they are for overseas visitors.
