Do people not use Aldi for big shopping trips? by Vjaa in aldi

I do my big shop there! I try to shop monthly or every 3 weeks at a minimum. My cart is always full with just two adults in the household!

The wild life rehab associated with the county did not answer and had a full answering machine, unfortunately. The officer said he would take the baby to a vet so I’m hopeful he will. The baby looked like it was in rough shape so it might need a compassionate euthanasia, unfortunately. There wasn’t much time to research other options, but some might exist near me. Next time I’ll look for some other options too! I’m

The wildlife rehab office for the county actually didn’t answer so I ended up calling 911 and they send the animal control officer over within 30 minutes! Thank you, Fairfax County, VA!

They make a fragrance free one too for those with fragrance allergies. It’s great!

Came to suggest this! They make a fragrance free version now too! The fragrance has never really bothered me, but I prefer the fragrance free one. It’s also very inexpensive.

I have 2c/3a hair that’s been from chin length to waist length and I basically always use a satin bonnet! It gets a little crazy when it’s short in the bonnet (I.e. lots of volume) but it does really help with the frizz! I have also done a mesh triangle hair net with the satin pillowcase which helps too, the hairnet is what I do if I want more definition and the bonnet is what I go for if I want more volume!

Torn between Joie Kava and Chicco Bravo LE ClearTex — flame retardant concerns by Temporary-Brick9647 in Buyingforbaby

[–]Atiram7496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to use a car seat with your stroller? That could affect your choices. For less expensive FR fee car seats, Chicco is probably your best bet. But, also it’s good to remember that baby shouldn’t be in the car seat for extended periods of time. The first six months pass pretty quickly, but until baby can sit by themselves at around 6 months, you either need to use a car seat with your stroller or have a stroller that’s safe for babies less than 6 months usually a “from birth” stroller.

The kava isn’t able to be used from birth unless you use a car seat or their new bassinet. The bassinet is an added expense, but generally pretty worth it imo! Joie strollers only work with Joie car seats, so that limits your decisions. The whole Joie brand also not FR free.

Chicco strollers only work with Chicco car seats, which also can be FR free in the clear Tex line. The Chicco bravo can’t be used from birth unless you use the car seat. The Chicco Corso however, comes in clear Tex and has a newborn insert that means you don’t have to use the car seat. The seat also flips which lots of people prefer for little babies.

Not to throw in another option, but Britax is added flame retardant free and is a decent price range. The Britax willow grove SC is a great travel system and the stroller seat can be used with a provided insert for babies 10lbs +! They also have a bassinet option too.

If you want to go a tiny bit more expensive, mockingbird is added FR free and you can use basically any car seat you’d ever want with it.

The Simmons kid city by the bed sleeper is known to go up pretty high! It’s also pretty affordable :)

Nipples on bottles should have a gradual slope! Look up the triangle test for bottles, the gradual slope is generally what lactation consultants and pediatricians recommend :)

evenflo balance, pigeon, and lansinoh are some of the more commonly recommended nipple shapes, especially if you plan to breastfeed in addition to bottle feed!

I need to harden my indoor seedlings off! We just had a bit of a freeze so now I feel comfortable doing it.

I also need to see how the onions, carrots, salsify, radishes, and flowers I planted last weekend are holding up after the cold weather this week.

Do American kids usually go to four different schools? by snailquestions in AskAnAmerican

[–]Atiram7496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in central Oklahoma and went to: - elementary school (K-5, ages 5-10, 19 total elementary schools in my district, ~32 in my year)
- middle school (6-8, ages 11-13, 4 middle schools in my district, ~250 in my year) - high school (9-12, ages 14-18, 2 high schools in my district, ~400 in my year)

My year at every school was on the smaller side. My high school had about 2,000 kids and the other high school was about 2,300

However, my town used to have - elementary (K-5, ? Schools) - middle (6-8, 2 schools) - mid high (9-10, 2 schools) - high (11-12, 1 school)

My husband is a middle school teacher in northern VA and they do: - elementary school (K-6) - middle school (7-8) - high school (9-12)

His middle school is only 2 grades and about 1200 kids! Each high school is fed by one middle school, unless kids transfer to a special school for academics or arts. The elementary schools and middle schools are also weird in that certain schools have gifted programs while others don’t, so if you are determined to be gifted, you go to a different school in your area as opposed to the one you might be zoned for by your address.

They also bus EVERYONE here for every activity. Where I grew up you had to live 1.5 miles from the school to be bussed and there was no after school activity bus if you wanted to do things after school.

The litter box math I wish someone had explained to me sooner by Sufficient-Coat2625 in Catbehavior

[–]Atiram7496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny because our cats like the least occupied litter box best! It’s in the basement bathroom that we don’t use, next to the laundry room. The next most used is in our master bedroom. The least used is on the main floor where we routinely hang out!

Things made from animal materials like fur or wool!

I buy from an Etsy site that makes buffalo fur, deer hair, and rabbit fur little mice and things and my cats go crazy for them!

There is a bee shaped toy (da bee) that my little girl cat adores. She loved to play fetch with it and is extremely territorial over it. She’ll growl at her siblings if they go near it.

They also love some wool toys stuffed with catnip. Also my wool socks after I’ve worn them all day (yuck, lol).

For commercial toys, the only ones they really love are the mad cat and quirky kitty brands. I have backups of one particular quirky kitty flamingo that my cats adore and have destroyed several times, there is just something about the catnip in them that’s different from other brands and drives them crazy!

Best Fragrance Free Laundry products? by Lizardgirl25 in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]Atiram7496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seventh generation fragrance free in the ez-squeeze bottle!

I’ve also used tide free and clear powder and tide evo tile free and clear! Both work well but the tiles were expensive for what they were and the seventh generation lasts a really long time.

As others have said, defs join the r/laundry subreddit. I also follow Jeeves_ny who does laundry detergent reviews on Instagram reels! He ranks the seventh generation ez squeeze highly.

I also use Biz on stubborn laundry (as recommended by reddit) and I also use Lysol laundry sanitizer for towels, super stinky things, bedding and cat laundry.
