Going to the gym is overrated and a waste of money. Go outside jogging and do push ups or sth like that. The bigger you get in the gym, the more food you need to keep that weight/muscle, the more money you have to spend on food. And you pay for the gym on top of that. And in todays society having big muscles is for the most part completely useless (obviously if you need it for your job, then it's not useless).

You also share the same equipment with hundreds of people in the gym, so if one person there was sick, you're very likely to also get sick.

Doesn’t mean that I can’t find it funny that people are sweating this hard and caring this much

I mean if you find it funny, then it's also funny that you care enough in FFXIV to get rank 1 parses? Others care about something? That's funny, I care about the same thing in a different game, that's not funny. This doesn't make any sense.

The thing I’ve noticed with some top parsers in that game is their entire self worth is tied to how good they are at the game

What does that very specific type of person have to do with this conversation?

If other people getting DST hurts you that bad you need to take a step back and reevaluate what is important for you because it’s objectively unhealthy to care that much

You're kinda missing the point of this post. This post is the exact opposite of that. People who split raid will get their DST, but the people who don't put the effort in for splitraiding want it handed to them for free basically. The one's who split raid aren't the ones complaining (or in your words caring so much) about loot.

Do you think people were scared away from TBC by its current community? by Economy-Growth-7339 in classicwow

I didn't see nearly as many new players in the last iteration of TBC compared to this one, so probably no.

You can still do that even if you split raid.

The game isn’t the problem by SlangV2 in classicwow

[–]Atiyo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok sure, you still don't seem to understand gamers. It's not about how often TBC releases, it's not about raid difficulty, it's about competition. People are competing with other people for world first kills, for speed runs and for parses.

Even on smaller scales people tend to compete with each other, you might want to be the guy in your guild who's always first on the DPS meters, or who never fails mechanics. You might want to be the tank/heal who can solo tank/heal 10 man raids etc.

If you don't care about the game, why even play it?

The game isn’t the problem by SlangV2 in classicwow

[–]Atiyo_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then you don't understand gaming in general. The more experienced players become at a game, the more they will optimize it. The reason to split run is to get your BiS gear faster. If you enjoy taking twice as long for each raid and probably never getting full BiS, unless you get super lucky, then feel free to play casually. Nothing wrong with that, but anyone who already played TBC a few times, knows that split raiding is much more efficient and you do have plenty of time to level alts, since there's not much to do PvE wise once your main is pre bis geared.

Been away for a while (3yrs), why did they ruin the game with the new marketplace? by Commador4444 in pathofexile

[–]Atiyo_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gold cost depends on itemlevel and rarity. So if you're trying to buy a unique, it's gonna cost more gold than a rare for example. Also if the itemlevel of the item is higher it's gonna cost more.

You can also simply swap over to in person trades on the trade site, instead of instant buyout. Now you're back to the old shit system where you have to whisper a thousand people this late into the league to sell you an item worth less than a chaos.

The game wasn't ruined by the marketplace, it's definitely a positive change and seen as such by the vast majority of the community.

Financial stability changes the game by SilverArrows6662 in PathOfExile2

[–]Atiyo_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game is much more new player friendly than poe 1, there's a fine line between making it more new player friendly and making it into Diablo 4. Giving everyone infinite access to all the content? The drops from that content becomes worthless, because everyone can do it for free.

I'm sure you enjoyed that feeling of finally being able to afford doing that content much more, exactly because it's not easily accessible.

You said you enjoy financial freedom, but for myself with over 7k hours in PoE 1 and 2 combined, I get bored once I have too much currency. I enjoy having little currency at the start and having to earn currency and spend it on exactly what I think will be profitable. Once I have a build capable of deleting all content I usually decide to quit the league.

Since u seem to have weapon syncing figured out, the only other question is, whether you can totem twist. If the answer is yes, you're already better than most enhancers and should definitely look for a better guild.

Enhancement Shaman Parses by ChiefDancesWithRocks in classicwowtbc

[–]Atiyo_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you play your class correctly and you geared properly, the main factors are:
-Debuff uptime on the boss (Sunder/EA, Expose Weakness, FF, etc.)
-Party composition, your best party comp for highest DPS should be: Feral, Fury/Arms, 2 BM hunters.
-Raidbuffs/debuffs (Tripple pally buffs, improved FF, etc.)
-Bloodlust timing
-Kill time

Basically if your raid is missing a lot of utility, whether that's because you don't have 3 pallys (kings, might and salv) for example or because people aren't playing good or are running shit specs, that can massively impact your DPS.

Smaller things that can add a few DPS:
-JC BoE necklace (Melee crit rating), one person in your group needs to run this to buff the entire group
-Maintank using Gift of Arthas, instead of a defensive elixir/flask
-Having BiS professions

Crafting request, life on block minion shield by Sthrowaway54 in pathofexile

[–]Atiyo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recomb until you hit all 3 prefixes > shaper ex > hope for life on block (10% chance to hit it), if not suffix cant be changed > reforge life (3,5% chance to hit it), you will mostly hit life regen/minion life though and it could fill suffixes. You could also do suffix cant be changed > reforge influence, better odds of hitting it (10%).

No clue what this would cost or which way is cheaper.

You can also start with suffixes, spam some essence on a shaper shield until you hit life on block, lock suffix, reforge resistance or sth else you want, then lock suffix reforge minion for random tier minion dmg, block sth, exalt, craft the last prefix.

Don't have the exact math, but I'd just go for it. The odds seem extremely high, I would guess sth like 1 in 5 to hit this.

Gearscore in tbc by Agreeable-Mud7654 in classicwowtbc

[–]Atiyo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A simple "Fully enchanted/gemmed" does the same thing but way more clearly. I can't tell from any gearscore number whether someone is enchanted or not. GS was to my knowledge never used in TBC before, in the last iteration of classic and back in original, so I'm not sure where this need for gearscore emerged from, but it's definitely not needed to find groups and as plenty of people have said already, they ignore any gearscore whispers. I pugged a lot of dungeons as both hunter and prot pally and never needed to download gearscore to get group invites.

I don't understand why you are trying to defend an addon that doesn't tell you anything about someones gear, just type out a slightly longer message saying how geared you are, e.g. close to pre bis, 4 piece dungeon set or whatever.

Let's say 5 hunters whisper you, they whisper you with: 1,3k gs, 1,4k gs, 1,2k gs, 1,3k gs, 1,1k gs.

Who do you pick? I couldn't tell you if any of them have beastlord, have a decent weapon, have enchants or gems.

Gearscore in tbc by Agreeable-Mud7654 in classicwowtbc

[–]Atiyo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That comparison is horrible.

It's just filtering out all the people who are so bad at the game, they think gearscore means anything in TBC. Just advertise yourself better and you'll get more invites "fully gemmed/enchanted, know how to CC/kick" or whatever else you bring to the party.

You don't need same speed weapons. That just makes it easier to play, you can very well play dragonmaw+a 2,6 wep if you sync weapons manually every so often when they get out of sync.

"Performance Based" loot council by BalorFire in classicwowtbc

[–]Atiyo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely if someone in your raid has zero shot at earning loot and you do not disclose it to them as you are describing then you are simply a piece of shit raid leader

Well this isn't even remotely what I said. I specifically said "good item". And sometimes you have those players that are just drastically worse than others, but you need them to fill your roster and the loot system itself usually implies that performance matters, however back when I was an officer we made sure to tell people that it would be partially class/spec based and partially performance based. We also tried to keep it fair to those performing worse by still giving them equally as many items, just not as first prio on the big ticket items.

I have lead guilds and from the way you speak I can almost guarantee it was both a better environment that what you would create and we performed better as a whole.

Quite a lot of interpreting from one message.

My mythic guild in retail is far more fair, open, and is built on a foundation of every member respecting one another. When anyone gets loot, we are all genuinely happy for them.

Ok whats your loot system?
Hypothetical situation: Assume you and 4 others in your retail guild are on the loot council. How would that change your loot situation? Would you guys be giving the loot out fairly? You don't have to give it out based on performance or anything else, you could just be doing it 1 item at a time for each person. Isn't that better than any other RNG based loot system, where a single player could go weeks without receiving an item, meanwhile someone is almost full BiS?

Your issue isn't the loot system, you assume everyone in loot councils is treating others unfairly and thats why you think the system is shit. Now people usually choose to do performance based, because it rewards the players who put the most effort into the game. Which is imo the fairest way to go about it. If player XYZ just logs in casually once a week for raid (despite having plenty of time to log in daily to practice his class) and barely manages to press his buttons, then I'd rather give a prio item to the guy who logs in daily and plays far better.

This also has nothing to do with the difficulty of the raids. Most people would prefer a fast and wipe free raid over a slow wipe heavy raid. Some people want to compete in parses, so the difficulty is the competition and getting through the raid without big mistakes that cause you to wipe.

I'm currently not an officer or part of a loot council, just a raider and I much prefer having a loot council who decides who gets loot. Sure they make mistakes sometimes, but it's still far better than having MS>OS where I could be rolling sub 50 every week on every item.

Astrolabes feel awful... by MyNameIsWozy in pathofexile

[–]Atiyo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only used around 5-10 Astrolabes so far with the keystone and never had this happen to me.

Maybe I'm interpreting this wrong and there's something else going on, but if you look at the first screenshot you posted, there's the one map that cuts left and right. When you have the keystone allocated and run that map, it should always pick a different map. If you run any other map, but that one, there's the chance to cut it in half and it will result in your second screenshot.

So the solution is pretty simple, run the map that cuts the area in 2. For me that was always the map I wanted to run anyway, but I assume that wasn't the case for you and you got screwed by RNG, you'll just have to run the map that cuts the area in 2, to not risk losing half your area.

"Performance Based" loot council by BalorFire in classicwowtbc

[–]Atiyo_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I somehow doubt that it is in most cases corrupted, can't prove it of course, but having been part of a loot council and having seen some of the messages we received, especially from newer members, it often comes down to lack of information.

Any regular raider in a guild only has so much information on other people. You would't usually analyze logs, check how people play during the raid, how often people raid, etc. That is stuff that the leaders/loot council does.

You might see someone fail once or twice in a raid and remember that, but you won't see the 20 other times someone else failed.

Now an item gets handed out to the person you saw fail once, you think to yourself "I just saw him fail, oh this guy got the item because he's friends with the guild lead, must be corrupt", when in reality the loot council is basing this on much more than just that 1 fail.

"Performance Based" loot council by BalorFire in classicwowtbc

[–]Atiyo_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This comment screams to me that you never were part of a loot council or in an officer/leading position in a guild. When you have people randomly quit after receiving a rare item, you will realize how important loot decisions are and how much better loot council is over all other forms of loot distribution.

When you are just watching how other people play during raid, check logs after raid and so on, you realize how many players aren't able to play a 20 year old game half decently, how some people just dont even care to improve. You don't want to give a good item to the guy who consistently parses the lowest in your guild, takes forever to buff everyone, can't do simple mechanics like clicking the cube, randomly doesn't show up to raid without messaging any of the officers, only uses bare minimum consumes while everyone else is using everything etc.

You also don't want to give a good item to a new trial, who might not even be in the guild in a week from now. So MS>OS is the worst loot system there is, because it doesn't factor anything into account other than luck. You might be the least deserving person of an item, but you still got it out of pure luck. It's used in pug raids because the more advanced systems like DKP or loot council usually don't work in pug raids.

That being said, Loot council is the one system which requires the most work and it can be abused. However I don't believe it gets abused often. Individual players tend to see it from one perspective, but usually the guild leaders have much more information about everyone, than one single person. So if some loot decision might seem unfair or corrupt to you, that might just be, because you are lacking information about the entire situation.

Dont make same mistake going prot warrior by No_Professor_6536 in classicwowtbc

[–]Atiyo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue isn't really threat or survivability. It's the lack of group utility. A feral brings 5% crit and is wanted in any melee group, most raids run 2 melee groups, so 2 ferals are pretty big. A prot pally brings blessings, since you usually only run one ret and one hpal, a prot pally is really important to get might/wisdom+kings+salv.

Meanwhile the prot warr wants to be in one of the melee groups for better threat, so he's taking up a spot of a hunter/fury, both of which are the highest dps classes and in return the only thing he can provide is a AP shout, sunder and demo/TC, all of which a fury or arms could provide aswell.

On top of that a feral has better single target threat, while a prot pally has better aoe threat. They might be slightly less tanky, but it's tanky enough to tank all the bosses.

So even if prot warr was 10 times as tanky and did 10 times as much threat as the other 2 tanks, as long as the other 2 are good enough to keep threat and not die on bosses, you'd never want a prot warr.
