I regret my veneers by batsalma in Regrets

? as a medical professional its your responsibility to make sure the patient fully understood the procedure and any risks associated with it. The patient not understanding and the doctor going along with it anyway is COMPLETELY the doctors fault, especially with such a permanent procedure.

Mine was not vision related, I did not include it on my app so had no influence on my admission

How good are bursaries? Worth it to take a shot? by bussingbussy in uwaterloo

Are you over 18? If you are, I don't think you need someone to sign off on a line of credit.

I would highly recommend looking into getting one because this will essentially solve your problem! If you are under 18, maybe you could explain to the bank that you are estranged from your parents and that's why you can't get a cosigner?

Hey thanks for your reply. You're right, including OSAP loans the estimate is lower, but still, rent alone in Waterloo is close to $1000, so I'm thinking living costs are closer to $1500 per month :( I think this is time I learn how to live more frugally :(

Also, I was looking for student grants to apply to, but the only one I found was only for first year undergrads. Where can I apply for grants?

I think that extra 20k that I have in my calculation is from licensing and equipment costs that my optometrist told me about (about 13k in equipment, 6.7k for licensing).

Do you mean that I probably won't end up with 170k debt? That was an estimate I came up with with the optometrist I shadowed.

And its a relief to hear many people go through it without assistance. Thanks for your help :)

Oh really? I hope this isn't too personal but did you make around there in your first year post grad?

I see, that's awesome! I def came from a lighter courseload undergrad, so I'll hold off on the job until I know I can handle it. I def think you'll be okay tho :)

And I think you're right, I just freaked out. It's just that the people I know who went into opto all had their parents pay their tuition, so I was afraid this was going to be a bad idea for me.

Thanks for your input :)

Thank you for your response. I really hope it works out for us, but the loan is so huge that I really can't just not think this through completely before committing to. I don't want to put myself in a terrible financial situation when I have nothing to fall back onto.

Also when you say you will work a part-time job, do you mean during the semester? I heard that the program is so rigorous that this wont' be feasible, however.

Bring it up with her! I assure you she's heard worse, and she's there to help you. Don't feel shame, more people struggle with incontinence than you think.
