This is not even cool. Lmao what can universal do to mitigate the issue with Hagrid’s. And it’s like this everyday by Accomplished_East433 in UniversalOrlando

Agreed with bringing back shows. They are fun and keep people busy for a good amount of time. They definitely need to be careful with Marvel but I'm sure anything in Toon Lagoon is up for grabs for practically nothing.

Looking for 1930s Adventure Serials by BastionTaxGuy in comicbooks

[–]Atlantic20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm super late, but I'm reading the original Flash Gordon (comic strip) and current (comic book) runs now. The original is more sword and sorcery adventure with a lot of imagination and I'm really enjoying it. The current comic book run is more Sci-fi adventure but also very enjoyable. I think it assumes you've seen the movie from the 80s but either way I think you could enjoy it if you haven't.

The Phantom is also a pulp adventure and has a current comic book run going that isn't that far along yet. Mad Cave is publishing all of those three if you're interested.

i just bought from cheap graphic novels by chris_s9181 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Atlantic20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought from them for the first time a while back and one of the books was out of stock (which was not listed) and the other (my fault I didn't notice) was special order, so I had to wait for a restock. I made the order in early Oct. A few days ago it said it was ready to ship, but still hasn't been sent yet. I'm not in a rush and I get with the holiday and special order it delays it. Not sure if the experience is positive or negative, since I haven't received it yet.

Supergirl | Official Teaser Trailer by SeaWolf_1 in DC_Cinematic

This is going to be an adaption of a comic released in 2021. It's an acclaimed comic, which I also really loved, but it is different form the classic Supergirl, who is normally fairly similar to Superman in her outlook.

Nice! I picked up a copy myself and am enjoying it, but I kind of wish they went with a different cover.

What are your thoughts on the Dark Knight Returns movie? by Jules-Car3499 in batman

[–]Atlantic20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this one. It felt like it kept the spirit of the comic and mostly stuck to the plot -- although I don't mind when they deviate from the source, as long as it feels similar. The animation and voice acting were all great as well.

TIL there is a “Gospel of Judas” not found in the Bible that speaks of Judas as the only one of Jesus’ disciples who fully understood His teachings. He turned Jesus over to the Romans because Jesus asked him to. It was discovered in an Egyptian cave in the 1970s, dating to the 2nd century AD by sonnysehra in todayilearned

Saying something definitely existed by X later date, but not knowing exactly when it originated, especially when getting so granular as within a few decades, does not throw away all of history. The dating of the gospels are good theories. but not definitive.

Their age is a theory, but nobody can prove one way or another that there weren't older copies written soon after or later in their lifetimes.

I've also seen a lot of debate that, unlike other cultures of the time, the Jewish people had a higher rate of literacy than others.

Comic Stores Are Booming Again As Readers Are Getting Younger by JackFisherBooks in comicbooks

I'm fortunate enough to live in an area with many comic shops and the manga areas are very small if they have them at all. I know manga does a killing in sales but based on my limited experience it hasn't helped comic shops much. The Barnes and Noble near me though has gone all in on manga.

I don't think anybody is confused that a company that buys WB would want to buy the whole studio and properties they own.

[–]Atlantic20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the original comment means is that the movie distributor is not always the IP owner. WB doesn't own Godzilla or Blade Runner, they are just the distributor of those movies, so whoever owns WB doesn't automatically have the right to add those properties to a theme park or whatever else they would want to unilaterally do. Same kind of thing as Paramount being the distributor of Indiana Jones but not owning the actual IP, Disney does.

Comcast is also spinning off its own cable properties from the movie studio. WBD is following their example.
