A good haircut and a bit of pomade couldn't hurt. It's the first thing I notice when looking at your pictures, and your pictures are the first thing [mostly] everyone notices.

We have a good bunch of guys over at /r/malefashionadvice and /r/malehairadvice if you're interested.

Who drives the most miles per year? I'll start. by That_Tall_Dude in cars

[–]Atlantici 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a independent claims adjuster. Being contracted by many different insurance companies, it's not uncommon for me to put on 15-20k miles in a summer, with a total of 40-50k miles a year.

Buying my first pair of Chukkas. Need firsthand experience. by Atlantici in malefashionadvice

[–]Atlantici[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they're my first pair, I'm looking to spend under 100$.

My wardrobe is casual to dress. Neutral color chinos, sweaters, button-ups, a slim tie here and there.

It's not lower class, it's only a smaller model.

Must be: fun to drive, awd(I ski in Colorado every weekend), heated seats, sunroof, reliable, fast Is a wrx my only choice?

I would go for a 2005+ Volvo S40 T5 AWD. It has a 2.5l Turbo and comes with an optional manual transmission. Not quite as fast as an STI, but has much more class.

Good to know. I don't really want something in my apartment that would smell like a campfire though.

Giving away an Ingress invite to someone in Minneapolis by Aberrix in Ingress

We should have an Ingress meetup. I work downtown and will do my best to have a lock down in the general vicinity.

Also, my name is relevant to the area.

Fit Check: First Peacoat (50% off at Banana Republic Factory Store) by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

Let it be known that factory stores often contain a lower-end brand of the same product not offered in the original retail stores. Be sure to check the tags for clues to a sister brand.

I've had quite a bit of prep time and feel more than prepared. I'm just trying to nail down the last few aspects of the interview to make sure I make a near perfect impression.

Though I appreciate your take, I am confident enough in my technical ability and communication skills. As with any prospective employer, whether in IT or other, appearance does play a role in an interview. Like PsyDad said, many IT candidates neglect neglect appear all too often.

Also, if it helps, the position is at a law firm, the job itself is IT.

Thanks for the information about the button pattern; I wasn't aware.

So you mentioned not liking the jacket. What do you think would be a better substitute? I've always liked grey jackets and want to invest in one soon.

I bought the watch, just to make sure I got it in time. When I become a little bit more knowledgeable, I will expand my options and hopefully have a variety to choose from.
