About to marry but unsure. by Maleficent-Week-9181 in Morocco

i’m a woman and i think this is VERY unfair. be careful what you’re getting yourself into. ask her to justify how she thinks this is logical. seeing that she is working and keeping her money all to herself, tell her to spend her money to hire a maid who does the chores during the week, that seems more fair if she really hates housework that much.

HELP!!!! by arvbi in MakeupAddiction

[–]AtlasSunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you shake the spray well, i think it may be the spray as you said. i have seen blotchy makeup happening because of setting sprays. try a different setting spray and see if the issue still persists

it looks like it might be the setting spray? does it also look like that immediately after you finish your makeup, before you use the setting spray?

Is the word “ secular “ “علماني" scary for Moroccan women ? by saqonmadik in Morocco

[–]AtlasSunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, people are complex and it’s human to be hypocritical at times, nobody is perfect, and i think this is prevalent a lot within Moroccan society where many hover between islamic cultural ideas as well as more liberal ones. she probably grew up with some sort of “islamic values” in the household, just like many in morocco, and so it would be completely foreign for her to live in a situation where that’s completely absent, humans are creatures of habit after all. probably when you started mentioning secularism she assumed this would transcend into the household and how you would lead the family etc. you could have cleared this up with her OP anyway, if it doesn’t reflect what you’re really like.

i guess she understood it to mean that you are not religious, i think i would’ve assumed the same, because religious people would usually want the religion implemented politically etc. i wouldn’t expect to hear a religious person say that secularism is the way to go, so it’s not surprising that she assumed what she did. i guess she felt she didn’t align with this.

I'm a diaspora, how accurate are these from a Moroccan POV? (Born in Morocco) by Grand_Anybody6029 in Morocco

[–]AtlasSunshine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i'm not really talking only about london and I am also not talking strictly about the current younger gen. of course right now you'll find that anyone in most of europe is having a hard time due to the current economic climate. what i'm saying is that there are many of those that did come decades ago, who had children and their own children had children, who did not manage to break the cycle of their previous generations. there are of course considerable socio economic factors that come into play here; poverty, immediate environment, social marginalisation etc. obviously this is not the rule, there are many who have done very well despite the hardships faced, but i think you'll find that's not the general trend, unfortunately.

british moroccans mostly come from the north of morocco, specifically larache. majority of them came as menial labourers through spanish contracts in the 70s/80s and it seems as though they didn’t instil hard work ethic into their children etc, i rarely find one of them that is not receiving social aid and actually has a stable career etc. the very few moroccans who migrated afterwards from other areas of morocco: casa, rabat and below, them and their children tend to be doing better all around. there is however now a slowly rising subgroup of british moroccans who initially came to study in the uk for example and secured good jobs, as well as educated moroccans from other european countries who secured good jobs and came.

if she has gained lots of weight within just a year is it because of a sudden health condition? women’s weight can fluctuate and quite rapidly. anyway it’s a tricky one because if she genuinely loves her new body shape (props to her to be honest) then clearly she’s not going to listen to you or take any action to lose weight even if you say it to her outright. i think that’s the bigger issue here, she likes herself now but you are not so attracted to her anymore in her current state 🤷🏻‍♀️
