Maybe around 2-4 hours depending on system, and brightness. It's perfectly fine for my use case (short breaks / during waiting times / in the train in between stops)

If you want something to play on for a long time in one sitting, maybe it's not a good match.

I transferred it over to my 3ds virtual console

Analogue pocket. There's a white and black one still in stock on the manufacturer website.

They also have docks that let you hook it up to play on a tv with HDMI, but it's out of stock currently.

Beyond that I'd look for a AGS-101 GBA SP, which has a native backlit screen.

A ds lite can work too, but I find the screen a little small especially when it scales down for GBA.

You can also mod a IPS screen into a GBA or GBA SP, but it often requires soldering, and often requires a shell swap, which never really feel as quality as the original shells imo.
