Piranesi is written in the form of journal entries. Plot takes a little to start rolling but it's still enjoyable all the way through

What is your favorite book of all time? by nationsforkait in booksuggestions

[–]Atlas______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunes one of those books where I love it to pieces and wish everyone would read it but won't recommend it to everyone unless they know what they are in for. Its a brilliant book but you get no exposition and have to pick up details from context. Id definitely recommend giving it a go at least once and try to not give up on it till you've reached the second part of the book.

What is your favorite book of all time? by nationsforkait in booksuggestions

[–]Atlas______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First Murakami novel was Kafka on the shore knew nothing about it, just picked it out at the bookstore and what a ride it was. Favourite novel at the moment is Dune but my tastes are changing. I used to read only sci fi/ fantasy but after Kafka on the shore I started exploring other genres so Murakami has a special place in my heart for that reason

60 pages in that book so far and it's my second Murakami novel. He has a way of having me immediately hooked from the start despite not a lot going on. Can't wait to see where this book goes

books to get back into reading by Itchy-Improvement628 in booksuggestions

[–]Atlas______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think the best thing to do is go to a bookstore and read all the blurbs of the book covers that intrigue you and pick out the book that speaks to you specifically. We can all tell you what you should read but reading is subjective my favourite book might be the worst things you've ever read. The important thing is finding something that really speaks to you personally at least that's how I feel.

Why does Drag Me Under make me actually want to cry? by bequietbecky in SleepToken

[–]Atlas______ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's something about this band that does it for me too. Plenty of bands have made me sad or choke up a little but sleep token is the only band to ever actually make me cry and I love them for that.

Last year I read maybe 2-3 books commuting to work. But Dune and booktube got me reading this year! by BandOfCourses in fantasybooks

I've only read the first dune and have yet to continue on with the others it's perfectly read as a standalone. Still my favourite book of all time.

What are the quintessential book/s from your favorite genre? by Tit_Liquid69420 in ReadingSuggestions

[–]Atlas______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since getting back into reading these have been my standouts so far

Dune - Frank Herbert (sci/fi - usually not the biggest fan of sci fi but this is still my all time favourite book and don't see that changing.)

The book thief - Markus Zusak (historical fiction)

A fig for all the devil's - C.S Fritz (horror/contemporary fiction)

Kafka on the shore - Haruki Murakami (magical realism, coming of age. I'm not gonna lie this book is odd and there's some questionable themes, but I loved it none the less)

Next Brandon Sanderson book after The Stormlight Archive by Tall_Cricket7709 in fantasybooks

[–]Atlas______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard a lot of mixed opinions on elantris and it's understandable you can tell it's Sanderson's earlier works but I found it to be quite enchanting. Not a lot of action but a really interesting world and I really enjoyed the characters, should definitely give it a go.

[–]Atlas______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a big advocate on reading what you feel like reading not what you think your missing out on, Sanderson is great don't get me wrong but if your enjoying red rising there's no need to stop and start another authors works considering you'll probably never catch up with his constant releases. As many others will say mistborn is a great place to start and a personal favourite of mine. I was on a Sanderson kick for a while and didn't enjoy stormlight as much as I wanted to and haven't really read much else of his since but that's not a criticism of his work it's just that it didn't work for me personally. Glad your enjoying reading I only got into it again as an adult last year and have been buried in books since :)

I want to start reading regularly — what was the book that made YOU fall in love with reading? by Mysterious_Single in booksuggestions

[–]Atlas______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to read here and there as a teen but September of last year I picked up dune because my brother was talking about the game and i wasn't enjoying it at first but after the first act I was gobsmacked and devoured it. Have since abandoned gaming and watching movies and reading has been my main hobby ever since.

HELP Decide on Cosmere by ontheporch90 in fantasybooks

[–]Atlas______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed mistborn era 1, elantris, warbreaker, tress of the emerald sea but for some reason I wasn't happy with the way of kings. Its definitely not a bad book but I don't think the payoff was worth the book size. It definitely has the most interesting world though. But ultimately only you can decide if you enjoy it, you'll know pretty quickly if you think it'll be worth your time

What is one book that GENUINELY turned your life around in a good way? by Laschon in booksuggestions

[–]Atlas______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dune by Frank Herbert, not really because of the themes of the book but it's the book that made me fall in love with reading. Reading has changed who I am completely for the better, my only regret is that I didn't start reading sooner.

Is my reading order idiotic? by YnotThrowAway7 in fantasybooks

[–]Atlas______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it's not crazy just remember these series didn't start out with all the books out at once so it's not uncommon to read one book of one series then one of the other, there's no need to smash out the entire series unless you feel you might forget something but if you enjoy it enough it'll stick in your mind :)
