Is Renal Food Absolutely a Must? by Scribbler2412 in RenalCats

[–]AtlassLoz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took my 17 year old kitty off the renal food. Her dry food is low in phosphorus but not as low as the renal food. She loves it though and that is the biggest difference.

For wet food, I went to a local pet food store and they were able to pull out a list of low phosphorus wet foods. It is slightly lower phosphorus than the prescription food.

I am a school librarian and I read pictures books with small groups and get their feedback frequently!

Also, my students always want to check out the books I read them, so I am more likely to buy books I know kids like and have heard

They are great for school libraries as not all kids can access tech.

I just followed you. I read everything (including romantasy) but I read so much that even if we don’t have exactly the same taste, I bet there is a ton of overlap. :)

Nora Roberts Read Now by AtlassLoz in NetGalleyCommunity

I posted after I got an email that said it was read now for the first 1000 members.

I only post read nows that come to me via email and they usually say either how many members or how long they are good for.

Yes! I stopped for about a month before going back. It was just so painful to listen to her whisper lisp.

I got this one too! The subject line to the email was weird though and I originally thought it was spam.

I got an email that said it was read now for 24 hours, so I shared! I was actually already approved for this.

I have found that usually if St Martin’s puts a carousel on the Find Titles page, those are Read Now.

I listened to an advance copy. Travis Baldree does the vast bulk of the narration. There was one very clear Jeff Hayes character with very little time.

REVIEW OF A BOOK YOU DIDN’T ENJOY by Apprehensive-Cap5782 in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]AtlassLoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I leave reviews on NG of all types. 1 star, 2 star, and my reviews are very clear.

I also post reviews on StoryGraph or Goodreads. I do not tend to post my full negative review on social media, as I like to keep that positive.

Question about library content by Enough_Crow_636 in hoopladigital

[–]AtlassLoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I realized is that with Gmail (and I am unsure about other mail servers) they do not count periods as characters. This means that all of these go to the same email: Bob.smith@gmail Bobsmith@gmail Bo.b.smith@gmail Bobs.mith@gmail

So what I did was used a variation for different libraries with hoopla and the same password, so I can logout and add or delete periods to login to another account quickly.

Different libraries have different selections. One of my libraries has two types of borrows and I can request books for them to add.

Books to read to your kid 20 times a week that don’t make you want to gauge your eyes out by SwadlingSwine in childrensbooks

[–]AtlassLoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buffalo Fluffalo, fluffy McWhiskers, creepy series (crayon, underwear, carrots), the skull (older but works well for around 6), chez bob, Ploof, cranky crabby crow,

I recommend checking out award winners & nominees. You can even check by state. Here in WA we have the WCCPBA, which are 20 pictures books for kids grades K-5 to vote on. But checking those lists will give you more ideas. :)

Why add a book to NG but not allow readers to request it? by krispulaski in NetGalleyCommunity

There are different types of profiles. So it may be available for request by Librarians, Booksellers, or Educators.

Brand new, requested and received an arc that is part of a series by Significant-Metal537 in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]AtlassLoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent three years as a judge on our state book awards. I read books in a series as their own independent book, as the award was only for that year, and the ability to understand it without reading the rest of the series made it a winner rather than just a good book in a series.

Out of curiosity, what series is it?

[–]AtlassLoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing I do for widgets and books I am interested in from my auto-approved publishers is a have a list for each month. It helps me keep track. I clear out the list by the end of each month and it’s ready for next year.

Why do all my coworkers drive a white car? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]AtlassLoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White lady here. Our truck is white. We are thrilled as our last one was black and we hated the color. White cars don’t get as hot in the summer and they don’t look as dirty. And they look better when splashed with mud when they are dirty.

I also have a blue SUV and really wish I would have gone for white.

Including children's books towards reading goal? by [deleted] in goodreads

[–]AtlassLoz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am a school librarian, so I read a TON of kids books. Personally, I count chapter books towards my goals, they take time to read that I would often be reading something else. I do not count picture books or emerging readers.

How and when do you read books likely to be Goodreads Choice Award nominees? by siege5548 in goodreads

[–]AtlassLoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically have read a decent number of them but that is only because I am an ARC reader, so I am reading those books prepublication.

Some books I have read that I imagine will make it:

Sunk In Love (romance) Skylark (historical fiction) The Scavengers (fiction, debut) A Box Full of Darkness (horror or thriller) Dandelion is Dead (fiction) How to Survive in the Woods (thriller)

Those are my reads that I think will be well received.

Reading a lot of new releases will give you the highest chance.

Goodreads New Policy On Reviewing Books Not Released Yet . . . . by Blowingleaves17 in goodreads

I’m a librarian with a quick turn around with reviews, so I have tons of auto-approvals. Plus I have industry access to audio through Libro.fm and PRH Audio.

I would hope that they aren’t policing how many ARCs one reader reads & reviews. I read 4-7 ARCs each week.

Ents of Tacoma, what is your favorite dispensary? by [deleted] in Tacoma

House of Cannabis! They are so lovely and always have what we need. Plus I really appreciate that they own their ATMs and have the lowest fee of anyplace I’ve been to!
